Is Zeke the new Romo?

Sorry if discussed in other threads, however, I'm sure we all remember the saga starting in 2010 with Romo getting hurt and our offense incapable of putting points on the board (or sustaining drives of any significance). This has continued every year until this season with the arrival of Dak and Zeke. The parallel I'm trying to make after watching this season thus far, whenever Zeke goes out of the game, our offense sputters.. hard. As much as I can appreciate having a solid #2 RB in Alfred Morris, I feel our offense can't sustain drives with Zeke sitting on the side. Maybe I'm over compensating for the amazing rookie season Zeke is having, or possibly, there is some merit to this argument. Does anyone have any stats on drives where Zeke is in the backfield compared to Morris? And don't get me wrong, I do understand trying to conserve Zeke and not running him into the ground.. but whenever he steps off the field it seems the opposing D goes from stacking the box to all out blitz or loading the secondary to prohibit Dak from hitting his receivers.

PS - Alcohol may lead to moronic posts but it's something I felt I've been seeing.

I think it has to do with not having Romo. defenses are definitely less afraid to sell out for the run.

Today should help with some of the big plays we had down field.

Zeke is not the new Romo. He's just really good and like any good back is allowed to get a flow and rhythm going. We don't have a 1A/1B situation at RB but I think we're in good shape.

IMO, he is as important as Romo was while he played.

I think Dak falls apart if he is forced to fling the ball all over the football field at this stage of his career.

When Zeke is in the game we look like a totally different team than when Morris is in the game.

I think we would become Romo dependent once again without Zeke.

In the future I think Dak will be ok but I see too much rookie BS from him at times to think he could succeed this early in his career without Zeke.

I don't get the fall apart thing, he threw a 50 yd dart for a TD on one drive and another drive was stalled by a phantom holding penalty and a drop by Beasley on third down. The only really poor drive I can think of without Zeke was the end of half three and out. 10pts isn't bad.

I agree with you. I think Zeke and the Oline is the key to this whole thing.

I don't know how well Prescott would be doing without Elliott. It's really hard to gauge how having more on his shoulders would affect him. Frankly, it's tough for any QB to succeed without at least some semblance of a running game. Would Morris provide enough of one if he had to be the lead back?

I'm just glad we don't have to find out. Teams don't usually succeed without being good in multiple areas, so it's doubtful we'd be having the same kind of success without this running game, especially since our defense is only so-so.
