Isaiah Stanback's hard luck in the NFL continues.
The former Washington Huskies and Garfield High standout, who was hoping to land with the Seahawks, suffered a season-ending left Achilles injury early in the afternoon practice.
Drafted in the fourth round by Dallas in 2007, the 6-2, 208-pound receiver played two seasons with the Cowboys before signing with New England in 2009.
Last season, Stanback appeared in six games and caught three passes for 22 yards with the Patriots.
For his career, he has five catches for 46 yards. He's also averaged 22.7 yards as a kick-off returner.
Stanback started 20 games for the Huskies during a four-year career. He passed for 3,868 yards, 22 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. He also ran for 794 career yards.
He turns 26 Aug. 16.

Now they're stuck with paying him something.

The guy cannot play pro football without getting hurt. Period.

His contract isn't guaranteed until first game of the regular season. They can release him with an injury settlement for a fraction of what they would pay him for the whole season.

I feel sorry for him but he's too fragile for football.

Seahawks WR/QB Isaiah Stanback was carted off the field Saturday with what was later diagnosed as a torn Achilles' tendon.

The snakebitten Stanback was trying to turn his career around with his hometown team after spending most of last season on the Pats' practice squad. After starting his career with shin splints and a foot injury back in 2007, Stanback has now sustained multiple shoulder injuries and a meniscus tear in his knee in addition to the torn Achilles'. The once-promising combo prospect's career is now in jeopardy.

Sad. A real good guy with natty dreads too. Time for him to go to Canada and maybe flourish there with his (reputed?) open-field ability. He's run out of NFL PS eligibility I guess anyway.

He took all the criticism real good here, kinda like RW is doing now.

I don't know much about injury settlements, but I guess he's cut if possible ..

I rank Stanback as one of the dumber picks by the Cowboys in the last 10 years.

The pick simply didn't make sense. Why waste a very high 4th round pick on a project player? Players of Stanback's ilk would have been available later in the draft.

What's it going to be then, eh?

When was he ever healthy enough to ever be classified as "promising"?

I remember Stanback returning a kickoff for the Cowboys. He fell down on his own untouched, fumbled, and hurt his shoulder all at the same time. Quit a feat! That was all she wrote.

He just couldn't stay healthy. Fragile as glass.

Sure seemed a lot longer than that when he was here.

that was a Jerruh idea that stank

Jerry picked him after Jeff Ireland told him to do it. Ireland was just giddy over this guy.

Its mind boggling to me how every bad pick is "a Jerry pick" but all the good players we get must be somebody else's idea.

As the saying goes, "Were it not for bad luck, he'd have no luck at all."
