Did anyone else see the move Stanback displayed on his return. I don't think I'm exaggerating but he was damn near horizontal with the field. Anyone else confirm this?

You mean when the Texan got hurt? If so, then yeah, I think so. Too bad Stanback can't stay healthy long enough to give us some of that consistently.

It looked as if that one Texan tried to grab Stanback's hair.

And for having the last name "Barber", Marion's hair looks like matted CaCa where the sun don't shine!

On that particular play, he showed great physical agility and remarkably poor ball protection skills.

I think Stanback is overrated in the sense of what he could become for this team. In 2 years he has barely gave of glimpses of talent and although the kick return was nice he came back and fumbled and got injured something he seems to do alot of. I'm not saying we should cut the guy but I just don't see the potential that everyone else sees in him. I hope I am wrong but I don't see him being a #1 or 2 for the matter, maybe a #3 but he doesn't stay healthy enough to see what he has at all.

I have mixed feelings for Stanback.

On one hand, I've finally seen the promise and athleticism that the coaches have raved about in the past. He looks like a very talented returner, given he learns to protect the ball. Once this guy gets going, he looks like he's pretty damn hard to stop.

On the other hand, he's had ample time to learn basic ball protection, and doesn't do it. He doesn't look nearly as good running routes as he does on kickoff returns, and he's becoming an injury concern....much to Rampages' delight.

I'll continue to root for the guy, but at some point he's going to have to stay healthy long enough that we can afford to reserve a roster spot for him. I don't see him becoming a true wideout, but I see a return specialist and bit offensive player in him...a poor man's Hester if you will.

That was the Stanback I saw at Washington. He moves very well horizontally and vertically which is pretty rare to see a guy who is a long strider to move that well horizontally. I figured the first two years he'd have to learn the position and then in year three he had better come around or they are just wasting time with him. Hopefully that shoulder injury isn't too bad and that would impede his progress.

I'm ready to wash him out. He is obviously injury proned. People complained about players like Glenn and Galloway being injury proned, and they were. But at least they were playing whole games when they were getting hurt. Stanback gets hurt at practice or after only one or two plays in a game.

I think it's about that time.

He has a tremendous amount of talent and I am really liking the flashes that he is showing us.

This kid can play in this league and we will benifit from him being on our team.

I've been rooting for Stanback, but I was disgusted by his failure to protect the ball last night. He should know better and even if he doesn't, the coaches should have taught him better.

And he ends up injured (again) as a result of trying to recover a ball that he never should have fumbled in the first place ....

It'd be premature to give up on him now, of course, but he's flashing more buffoonery than brilliance. And that's not a good sign.

Even the best have fumbled before.

I can recall a certain RB less then stellar debut where he turned the ball over profusely, he turned out alright.

It is quite true that even the best occasionally will fumble. Fumbles happen.

But if you look at how Stanback was carrying the ball on each of his returns, he was an accident waiting to happen. He was wreckless with the ball.

And there is no excuse for it. He's been in the league long enough to know better and his coaches should have addressed it.
