that you cannot talk to other team's coaches re a coaching job until that team's season is over?

I remember that came up back in the 1990s after we had lost Wannstedt prior to a playoff game. I thought the rule had changed.

If so, how can Bill be setting up interviews with Sparano, Garrett etc? Last time I checked, we were still alive.

Someone mentioned that they can because of our BYE week.

kind of defeats the purpose because silly me, thought our coaches would be working the full two weeks on our possible opponents.

I believe they can only interview for future jobs and not actually leave the current team until their respective season ends. IIRC, coaches on playoff teams were losing out on potential jobs because they could not interview under the old rules. Many teams want to fire and then hire their replacements quickly so the new coach can get acclimated and focus on the current roster and the upcoming draft and FA period.

I see this as a distraction for the coaches being interviewed. After agreeing to go elsewhere, does a coach completely clear his head and concentrate on the task at hand during a playoff run? These guys shouldn't be considering any job or any team other than the one they're currently working for.

they changed the rules because assistants of playoff teams were losing jobe because they could not interview till after season.

Ireland had clear promotion and nothing jj could do.

What other playoff team is dealing this right now though? The only reason it's happening to us is because Parcells decided to take his job and used to coach here, so of course, he comes and disrupts our team.

I just wonder how Parcells would feel if the roles were reversed, I'm sure he wouldn't be pleased if Jerry was coming to raid his team while they were preparing for a playoff game.

^ ITA. This is really frustrating. There should be a rule that prevents any interviewing/talks until after the SB for ANY team. Last I checked we're at the most important part of our season as of yet and half our staff is being distracted by jobs for other teams. Awesome.
