yesterday was one of the better weather days you'll ever see up here in Dallas, yet the roof remained closed because "the heat might bother the fans" (yes, that was the reason given)

can someone refresh my memory on the range of degrees given for keeping the roof open (wasn't it something like between 70 and 75 or something?)

save this playing football indoors crap for the arena league

I'll go ahead and get this out of the way for the morons: Yes, I hate the Cowboys, I want them to lose every game they ever play again, I'm thinking about becoming a Rams fan, etc etc

I am confused to what your question is. You answered it in your own post?

It was a noon game. Jerry said they felt the fans would be more comfortable with the roof closed to keep the sun off them with it being directly over head because it was a noon game.

Not sure what all the whining about this is for, I would have liked to have seen the stadium wide open for everygame so far. But yesterday felt like an outdoor game, the doors opened up generated air and it was nice in there.

I think it was poor decision too.

The turf field and indoor "feel" of the Stadium has long been my least favorite part of being a Cowboys fan. I've always envied the "blue-collar" sentimentality that an open stadium and a muddy field provide.

That being said, I understand the need for Jerry to build an enclosed stadium.

Seems like a **** ton of money to spend on big *** doors and a sunroof when they're not going to be used during the nicest days of the year though.

yes, keeping the roof closed is crap--I tried to get the sports bar owner where I watched the game to open his roof but he refused--said he couldn't --jerk

Well I guess my question is, just what the hell kind of weather does it take to get the roof open?

since i was also at the game i have to say i thought it worked out perfectly with the doors open.
plenty of natural light, a nice cool breeze thru the stadium, perfect temp
and no texas sun shining in my eyes or beating down on my head.
i have now been there with the stadium completely closed, completely open and with just the doors open.
i liked all 3 ways, cool to have options.

Not having grass here is beyond comprehension to me. I dont understand why we dont.

But I guess with the amount of football that will be played there between the nfl, college and high school I can sort of make sense of it.

as far as the roof, I totally get that, no superbowl, no nba all star game etc...without it..

Yesterday did feel like an outdoor game though with those doors open.

Don't know the reason it was a nice clear comfortable day I also do not think it is that big of an issue. Silly me I was think how the team played was the only big issue.

Well at least the doors were open.

I certainly wouldn't be complaining if I had the chance to be there, but I would think Jerry would want it open every opportunity he had...expecially for Cowboys games. 8-12 games a year, and you'd guess several of those would be marred by inclement weather....

I was so amped when rumors were going around that we were going to build the retractable field like the one in Arizona. Ceste' la vie....

Why in the world would anyone take the time to come on here and complain about the roof? I don't understand people.

Not enough sunlight to keep it healthy unless you want the field to look like Heinz Field every week

Probably the same reason someone would take the time to come on here and complain about people taking the time to come on here and complain about the roof. ;)

You would have to do it like the cardinals do. They take this field up all the time anyway, it would basically be no different.

Our owner spent a great deal of money to get the stadium to have a retractable roof to be opened on days with good weather, like yesterday. It's a legit "complaint" (if you want to call it that)

Why haven't I seen this little catch phrase of yours in the countless of other threads dealing with a whole lot of nothing?

So now you don't understand people huh.... lol. Why weren't you standing around the gang rape crime scene saying this? You had to come on here and say that on a message board in a thread dealing with a legit question? I don't understand rangers71.

Yes, it was closed because Jerry was worried that the entire lower half of the stadium would begin to panic and rush out in mass hysteria if it got too warm and they actually borke a sweat. Something most of them have never expereinced.

ORLY?

It actually stems from the giants game. Everything was open for that game and the humidity was tough on everyone. SO I think they are being oversensitive about the sun and the heat.
