I think what a lot of posters are missing is that the only real statistic that matters is wins and losses. How you get them really isn't material. It is nice to dominate on both sides of the ball, sacks are nice, pressures are nice, turnovers by your defense are a bonus, but all that really matters is do you win the game or not.
The reason I bring this up is all of the hand wringing over the defense and the pressure or lack thereof by the defense so far, the lack of enough sacks or whatever.
The offense wont make a defense "better" per se, but it can alter the situation it puts the defense in. Longer drives by an offense helps field position. The farther away from the goal line the opponent gets the ball the less points they will generally score, because more things have to happen right in order to get there.
Likewise, if our offense scores every time it gets the ball and limits the other team's touches, it puts a tremendous amount of pressure on the other team's offense to score. Think about it, if you had a historically bad defense, but your offense scored a touchdown literally every time it touches the ball, then the only way the other team wins is if they score every time too and/or get the last possession. One dropped pass on third down or one turnover would ensure a loss to the other team.
I don't think this defense will be historically bad in terms of wins and losses, and that is all that really matters.
