Why do we need all these threads and conspiracies that Moore called the plays or Garrett was calling them, or that Rod is running the defense one week and then its Richard? The bottom line is this team goes as far as our offensive and defensive line goes. When we play ****** on offense it's when we get beat up front and same goes for defense, it's that simple. Nothing gets accomplished without blocking or beating the opposing teams blocking.

It really does. When you are weak up front, it severely limits what you can do. And that's on both sides of the ball. Can someone get that memo to Marinate/Richard?

The modern NFL is NOT about just lining up and beating your man 1-on-1.

The Rams OLine didn't have super star players but their blocking scheme gashed the Cowboys for 273 rushing yards.

The Cowboys DL was not physically dominated 1-on-1 in that game. The DL played their assignments and the Rams knew exactly where their assignments would take them on all types of plays. The Rams schemed to take advantage of where the Cowboys DL would flow and used their momentum against them. The Rams found a clever methods to get the Cowboys LBs out of position which made it easy to block them.

I 100% agree with you. Same is said about NE. They hardly have any talent on that oline. Bunch of no name guys but they always seem to get the most they can out of their talent with coaching and schemes. Regardless my post wasn't about just lining up and beating the man across from you it's simply that if we can't block we won't be in many games. And if we get blown off the ball like we did against the Rams and Packers we will not win at all.

100% correct. This is the most overlooked concept by some fans who just want to whine about something they're not happy about. The point of attack has and always will be were games are won and lost. A great O line will push to the second level creating running lanes and can pass protect, making it hard for the defense to cover longer. A great defense hurries the QB to make bad decisions. You literally will go nowhere without both. This is why some consider injuries or weak players on the line an excuse, only to point the finger at the QB etc....

Games are ultimately won or lost in the trenches. Period.

Absolutely. As others have mentioned though, the trenches can be won through talent or scheme/game plan like everything else. As always, the complaint with our coaching staff is the tendency to not win based on game plan but rely on talent solely.

..well yeah, Billyboy has their checked already written out for those that play N think otherwise. ;)..

True and not entirely true. Trench warfare is crucial but if you’re crafty you can cover up some of the warts with a good scheme and still have success.

Rod and Garrett need to go, the game has evolved and they are Both outdated relics....

Sooo, play calling has nothing to do with it? LOL!!!!!! Call the same play several times, I don't care how good the line is, it won't work in the NFL. I see your point, but, play calling and game planning is the key to success. Especially, when you aren't healthy of have less talent that the other team.

Not really.

Until you get to the playoffs, and then you better have talent.

Sure, line play is a big factor.

The Pats lost their center and left tackle to IR and their right tackle is hurt. They are managing to win with a statue at QB.

Get it to the entire organization.

Actually, I think it’s a matter of record that with injured DTs (Woods and Collins), the Rams OL easily pushed past our DL and got to our LBs, rendering them ineffective as well.

It’s a fact that we have only adequate starting DTs, if that, and the drop off is significant when they aren’t in there, or worse, miss the game entirely. We don’t need super stars at DT, but we definitely need at least 4 guys in a rotation who can play the run effectively down after down.

Such a true post fellow Boys fan. They lost starting Left Tackle Solder a couple seasons back, starting Left TacklevTrent Brown this offseason and just keep chugging along Patriot style.
Almost plug n play...

They defy almost all odds and are the exception to almost everything.

It really makes all the other opinions shared on this post an excuse. To them, I believe it is.

No explanation

Defies all explanation I tell ya. Do a payroll comparison of Dallas o line and New England and draft capital invested.

The true outlier to all norms of the NFL.
