one thing that choked me was the way the clock stopped after Barber's first down run after we got the ball back with three minutes to go.

I know there was a flag and the intentional face mask but the Colts actually benefited from their penalty. With no penalty, they would be forced to take a time out. They take the penalty, the yards were not that important, the clock was, so they got a free stoppage of the clock.

Why didn't the refs start to run the clock once they spotted the ball? Was it because it was under 5:00 to go in the game?

Me and my friends were bugging out over that. I believe it was at 2:50 left. Can anyone clarify?

8. With the exception of the last two minutes of the first half and the last five minutes of the second half, the game clock will be restarted following a kickoff return, a player going out of bounds on a play from scrimmage, or after declined penalties when appropriate on the referee’s signal.

yep, the clock always stops on a enforced penalty.but we could have declined it but 15 yds is too much to give up

Not when it is first down and you are trying to run out the clock. We should have declined it in that case. You don't need 15 extra yards at that point just 1st downs. That was a bad decision to accept then.

Hell yeah we needed the 15 yards. What if we didn't get another first down and had to punt? The added 15 yards that the Colts would have to drive to score could have been huge.

I agree.

There is no way you can turn your back on 15 yards of field position when you have Peyton Manning on the sidelines waiting to come back into the game. It could have been the difference between a win and a loss.

15 yards is valuable real estate in a close game.

I agree. Especially considering where that drive started. You have to take that penalty.

Good! I'm not going crazy! I was heated about this and didn't understand it. I figured the Colts called a timeout?
