It makes me sick we missed out on Weddle and Hayward

That we just missed out on signing Casey Hayward and Weddle. We were in the running on both.

Thornton is the one we land. I am already looking forward to the day he is gone.

Hopefully this offseason is a little friendlier to us.

I don't think we were nearly in the running as you may think.

Neither Weedle or Heyward even got to Dallas for a visit. But we did visit with Nolan Carroll, who promptly turned around and went back to Philadelphia.

I would understand if they got wined and dined, or even stood us up at dinner like Chris Long did, but that did not happen.

All we have is the "interest".

Even Stephen Jones stated plain and simple, the numbers were not there with Weddle.

"I guess you could say he's high profile, but we weren't close to the numbers he signed at. We weren't.''

Get used to it. In order to play in free agency, you have to flash some cash.

Signing those 2 would have probably been the difference between a 13-4 record and 16-3 season

To make that kind of a difference we needed a consistent pass rush. Coverage isn't good enough facing a QB like Rodgers who can make the precision throws he does. The throw he made in the final 12 seconds was hard to defend with that kind of on the money throw. To defend an elite QB in the playoffs it takes a strong pass rush.

True that, that's why I said probably. One second can make a big difference between winning and losing

It's Bleacher Report but there was an article shortly after Weddle signed with actual quotes from him saying that he tossed and turned the night before he made his decision between us and Baltimore.

Regardless, I am not feeling the premise of this post. Our issue wasn't even our secondary, it was our pass rush. I wouldn't mind if we kept the same exact players in our secondary next year if we improve our pass rush.

I remember that now that you mention it.

If we can believe what Stephen Jones has said several times already, you might be 100% right. Was that a smoke screen? We shall see.
Smoke screen?

That would be like expecting a big sale to go over well with a closed sign in the door.

It's not a smoke screen.

Resign our guys, sign 1-2 low tier guys and draft. Just summed out our free agency

Going to be a long off season with a crap load of threads started like this. already have been some.

Just suck it up, as last season was a huge success. If all this would have happened with tony at QB. People would be posting the usual..... find a future QB, Tony can't do it. Dak will be an ok backup, but we need a future franchise QB....
So instead we get the rue of players we can not control their decisions on....well, I guess that is better than the usual, even though it is usual...the rue posts....
LOL

I don't get why people continue to assume "smoke screens" with this organization? They are about as transparent as any team in the NFL each and every offseason.

You go from a 4 win team to a 13 win all because of your off-season. And being that Hayward and Weddle don't provide any pass rush support....im not sure what they would've done for us.
Well, we wouldn't be wringing our hands right now about what to do with Carr, Church, Wilcox and Claiborne for starters.

Funny how it all comes full circle. A few years ago everyone would complain how Cowboys overpaid for washed up players other smarter teams would let walk because they saw the writing on the wall. You really think Weddle would put them over? Ha ha. Just watch the Commanders and tell me how that approach has worked for them.

Have some faith. They've finally managed to shackle Jerry pretty good. They put themselves in a pickle by having a rookie QB in the playoffs. I know it's not fashionable to criticize Dak, and it's not a knock either. But everyone knew their 2016 season days were numbered when a rookie was leading them into the playoffs.

Everyone knew our days were numbered when we drew an elite QB like Rodgers on a hot streak in the first round of the playoffs to go against this defense.
