I can understand why there would be hesitancy to give any serious affirmation to this year's draft class, if for no other reason than the fact that neither of them have yet to step onto an NFL field. However, the tape, ladies and gentlemen, doesn't lie.

With Roy Williams factored in, I believe we had an outstanding draft, one that should be validated as the season wears on. Did we give up a lot for Roy Williams? Yes, I think so. But if he grabs 80 balls this year, has 1200 receiving yards, and 8-10 TD's, it would be worth it.

As I look at this draft class, I seriously think that 10 of the 12 will be on this year's 53-man roster. The only question marks I have are the TE Phillips and the WR Manuel Johnson. Can Phillips beat out Rodney Hannah (who looked impressive in last year's preseason), and can Manuel beat out Sam Hurd or Isaiah Stanback? I could add a third question mark and that would be Mike Mickens. Will his knee hold up?

I believe that this draft class combines skill and attitude. They are still young. Barring injury, I truly believe that if this draft class doesn't exceed our expectations it will be because we had ineffective coaching. Our defense could be downright nasty next year. A personality like Ray Lewis's could have been the catalyst to instill an indomitable spirit into the younger guys, one that would carryover long when Ray hung up his cleats. My biggest fear, outside of critical injuries and Romo's erratic play, is that we won't have the coaching necessary to take this team to the next level.

I don't care what the prognosticators think - Anyone worth his salt ought to be able to look at the film on our draft picks and know that the Cowboys definitely drafted talent. The only name I thought we would get was Hamlin. I heard about Stephen McGee, but didn't know much about him. I knew who Manuel Johnson was but didn't think he was on our radar screen. And I hadn't even heard of any of the other picks. Without the fanfare of "name" picks, the Cowboys did a great job.

After watching video of these kids, it is apparent (at least to me) that we've got some hungry young studs, even if most of them will only be solid backups. With some solid coaching and grooming, they will be studs.

I still think we need to top if off with some key veteran signings, like a veteran FA WR and a veteran FA cornerback. I don't think Miles Austin is ready (or perhaps will ever be ready) to be a solid number 2 receiver. I truly think that if Roy Williams goes down, we will hurt on offense. Personally, I would inquire into acquiring Anquan Boldin. I think Williams and Boldin would form a formidable tandem for the next 4-5 years. I really do think they would compliment each other well. We need another veteran CB with such a young group, who will be quick learners.

Flame away if you like, but I stand on my assessment of this year's class and this fall will prove that assessment with flying colors.

Really, you thought that was hard to read?

If his knee holds up, I think Mickens will be the steal of the draft, I saw a couple of Cinci's games last year, and the kid can flat out ball.

Aint no way Bolden is coming here, we cant afford him.

The '07 draft is shaping up to be a massive failure.

I agree that another vet WR should be signed. One name I'll throw out there, since some of the other UFAs that I liked are signed, is Amani Toomer. He is a servicable WR who still has skills. Is he going to tear it up? Probably not, but he can tutor the younger guys.

Just my thoughts.

I'm the one with "kid" in their user name, not "perfection", sir.

I too watched the highlights on these guys. I think most anyone would walk away feeling good about our picks after doing that. But the problem is, they are called highlights for a reason. Every player in college, even those who go undrafted can be caught on tape doing something that an NFL team might like to have. The big question is if any of these players can reproduce good plays consistently. That is the question to be answered this fall.
