It seems appropriate to have a "Worst of" list

Spend foolishly. Yes, he's the worst ever owner of the Cowboys and it's not even close.

no, that's the GM recommending to spend on players... the owner just went along...... the owner showed willingness to spend. the GM screwed up on player/personnel.

Willing to spend AND taking care of his players is exactly what makes him a horrible owner.

Way over-pays subpar talent and hangs onto dead weight far too long.

Bad examples, bro. That's ok tho..........there aren't that many.

no the GM told him to spend the money on the wrong players. make bad draft moves, etc. I understand that both of these are the same person, but what if there was a GM who made the same moves and the owner goes along with him. that GM should be fired. not the owner. now you see the problem....

thus the worst owner in Cowboy history for this and many other drunken foolish moves he's made or not made

again, should the owner run the day to day operations and be responsible for talent evaluation and make up of the team? the roles and responsibilities of the GM and Owner are clearly separate. GM is responsible for all player/personnel decisions, including coaches. that's the way it is in most other successful NFL organization. the GM and the coach will have ultimate say in player/personnels decision, with GM having final word.

Bob craft listens to his GM and Coaches and pays money to whom they think they should sign. so did owner of Seahawks. Neither made the player personnel decisions. the coach and GM of those organizations are doing a good job of finding the right talent and paying off the right contracts. those recommendations come from the GM. in cowboys organization its the same person does both jobs.

in our case, the GM is totally screwed up. he has picked the wrong players, made the wrong trades, recommended contracts for the wrong players, etc.

not sure why you continue to mix up the two roles and their responsibilities.

I'm not mixing up anything. You seem to fail to see the obvious. I'll put it in your terms. The GM sucks. I think we can all agree. JJ hired the GM and refuses the fire the GM thereby being the worst owner in Cowboys history.

aha, there is the rub and its a separate conversation. the owner not firing the GM. and there lies in the conflict........ so worst owner in history because he doesn't fire a GM. not sure if that's the only qualification. and cowboys have only had two owners. so can I say he is the second best owner the cowboys ever had?

Worst WR: Roy Williams (just why)
Worst TE: David Lafluer (back surgery)
Worst RB: Troy Hambrick (what do voluntary mean)
Worst OL: Clay (yeah I'm the starter)Shiver
Worst DL: 2013 (pick one of the 25)
Worst QB: Clint Stoener (high school acuracy)
Worst DB: Michael Jenkins (business decisions)
Worst Kicker: Rafiel Septian (child abuse charges)
Worst Goat: Leon Lett (Thanksgivingday blunder in the snow)
Worst MVP: Larry Brown (4.8 guy SB MVP)
Worst Head Coach: Dave Campo (3 x 5-11)
Worst Asst. Coach: Jason Garrett (just unqalified all the way around)
Worst Trade: Joey Galloway (two firsts)
Worst Contract: Jerral Wayne (18 seasons)

Worst luck with #1 draft pick: Billy Cannon, Jr.
Played in eight games his rookie year (never started), then got a neck injury which revealed a congenital neck disorder, forcing him to retire.

The David LaFleur pick was interesting, in that he already had a history of back problems. But the Cowboys were determined to solve their tight end deficiencies that year, so even Aikman got involved in working out LaFleur and the other top prospect that they passed over -- just a guy out of Cal-Berkley named Tony Gonzalez. BTW, his coach at Cal was Steve Mariucci.

.. During these times of playoff austerity that there should be a worst of list. Here's mine.

Worst owner - Jerry Jones
Worst GM - Jerry Jones
Worst coach - Barry Switzer
Worst player - Clint Longley (anyone Staubach would punch has got to be a dbag.

Any list that has SB winners on it and calls them the worst is fundamentally flawed but it's your list and people are free to be as wrong as they want to.

1. Bum Bright was the worst owner (and I mean that; late in his ownership he and Landry reduced the Cowboys to also-rans)
2. Jerry Jones, yes, is the worst.
3. Um, Barry has a Lombardini ring, right? I say Dave Campo
4. David Le Flower (Aikman endorsed) and Dwayne "Speedy" Goodrich

Yea, like Switzer had anything to do with it. Aikman, Irving, Emmitt and Johnston ran that team while he was the coach.
