It starts with the pass rush

We have like no pass rush to speak of.

DeMarcus Ware has 6 sacks, Spencer has 2, and Brooking has 1.

We all remember Brooking's sack where he came completely untouched.

No other players on our team have any sacks, after 4 games.

Wade's defensive scheme is so freaking vanilla that its not even funny. We all harped on how plain jane Parcells was, and Phillips is no different. I don't think this is how the Chargers played under Phillips. I was really expecting something more like the Steelers. Something more complex, put players in position to make plays.

Our secondary is the same, reactive and subject to getting beat.

We're a bend but don't break defense, which is getting broken in half.

Whats worse is we're not even stopping the run.

You're assuming that some of these guys have the mental capacity to process complex blitz pacakges.

I think what we're seeing is indicative of a Wade Phillips coached team. His teams seem to start off hot only to fade as his tenure grows. There is a reason Mr. Fix-It has never held a head coaching job for very long, I believe we are seeing why that is at this very moment.

And our ALL PRO NT has not done much either. Ware right now is the only pass rusher the other teams fear and he gets doubled and chipped on virtually every pass play.

I watch other games and see blitzes where guys come through untouched.

Then I see our blitz packages (WE GOTTA BLEEEEEED coming through the A gap) and the other team's O-line picks it up perfectly...

Pass rush doesn't mean every defender needs to register a sack to be effective.

The whole team has to do their job, and they aren't right now.

Rush or no rush, Jenkins was flat out horrible. And A. Ball was still invisible.

I dunno how many times I've seen Brooking get up before the snap, stand there hopping in the gap then just get stoned at the line

Brooking needs to work on that little problem or he will find himself in an NFL rehab program.:D

Well, I like how Wade identifies talent - as I think he knows good football players. I don't like the Vanilla style. We just don't seem like a smashmouth team that creates big plays or intimidates in any way. We have to play nearly perfect all the time, and that is just too hard in this league.

Rather take more chances. We stopped rushing Chicago's QB, after they burned us a couple of times (more DB/Safety and LB coverage fault) yet Giants went and killed Cutler and sacked him how many times?

Why can't we do that? Scheme, creativity.

The poster that asked about whether our guys have the brains to handle complicated is valid though! This is a dumb team.

I'm pretty fed up with the 3-4, but I guess we're stuck with it.
