It takes more than talent to win a Super Bowl

Mazi doesn't think so.

If he's that good, then why have we had so many early round busts lately? Why is he refusing to take the steps to win super bowls?
Are you actually serious? They’ve been one of the best drafting teams in recent years. You don’t bat 1.000 when you’re dealing with human beings because you really don’t know what’s between the ears until rounds start flying. Jeez let your agenda go.

Hey brother I agree with most of this but you have to admit, if McClay was the GM of another team, with his record and lack of playoff success he would have been fired.

Hence why he is still in Dallas without the GM title. Because Jerry is in fact the GM with unlimited job security.

Here’s one place that has them as the 10th best drafting teams in the last 10 years.

In 2021, ESPN had them at #4.

SI has them at #4 as well

The Athletic has them at #5

Jerry doesn’t run the Scouting department. McClay does. Jerry’s responsible for the Joey Galloway, Roy Williams, Zeke last year, etc. I trust in Will McClay but everyone is entitled to their opinion.

McClay has had some great insight but at the end of the day. Jerry makes the decision. The last time McClay argued for a player it was Taco Charlton. Maybe that’s why?

They do draft well. At least in the first round. Second round and beyond hasn’t been that great. The reason so many starters come out of their drafts is because they are forced onto the field. This front office believes everything they do is great. That’s another issue. Just because they are hitting on picks, doesn’t necessarily mean they would start on other teams.

Sorry I don’t know if that makes sense I’m exhausted. But you know what I’m trying to say.

I agree that chemistry is important.

But talent is still more important.

We shall see how things shake out. They had a better offseason on paper this year.

lol...if some posters want to think that he was the GM, well, that would tell why the Cowboys suck for so long.

I would not brag about him being the GM, Jerra is the GM, that is why the team sucks.

Jerra is not going to like someone saying he is not the GM.
Jerry gave himself the title of GM.

That doesn't mean he assumed the duties typically attributed to the position of GM in the NFL. It certainly doesn't mean he has the credentials, experience, training or talent to be an NFL GM.

It doesn't mean he deserves the respect that is earned by assuming the accountability for his actions as a GM. There is no accountability for his actions as a GM. He will never be fired no matter how incompetent he performs as a GM.

There is only one aspect of Jerry's status as a GM that confirms his position. He has the title. The fact that Jerry has the title of GM is the only reason we can't say the Cowboys do not have a GM. In every other way you can describe the role, the Cowboys do not have a GM.

There have been times when the Cowboys did not have a HC.

An example is the 2010 season when Wade Phillips was given the title of HC, the responsibility of DC, but no control over the offense other than conducting practices and game time decisions. The OC was instructed to report directly to Jerry.

When the OC and DC report to the same individual, what is typically the title of that individual?

You need talent to win but talent, no matter how abundant, is entirely useless without proper direction and focus.
