It takes more than talent to win a Super Bowl

Better than Parcells? And we all know how that turned out.

I want to see how good Schotty and his coordinators at the Xs and Os part of the game, and clock management, and readying this team to play and compete each week.

Until I see that through about 8 weeks, color me pessimistic that this season is anything but 3rd place in the division and a missed playoff spot.

Having said that, I'm willing to give Shotty a few years to acquire talent and to develop chemistry and hunger in the locker room. But for this season? I just don't see this team being all that competitive for a playoff spot. The trenches are still unproven. Dak is coming off an injury. And that defense is still suspect to me.

I trust my eyes more than the hope and hype.
Yeah, who knows how this will turn out. We can only guess and hope. But I’m a glass half full guy and love the Cowboys so I get excited every year for the season to start. I mean we get to watch the Cowboys play! I think it’s helpful to have an optimistic attitude about everything. Just better for the mentals.

only fools think Jethro was not making the final call

There has to be team chemistry and by team chemistry I mean they all have to believe in each other to do their part. When there’s a cancer on the team, it affects the rest of the team in a negative way.
The team has to be divided on Dak considering his performance the last 3 playoff games. i don't think the owner believes in him but he will never admit to it

If the owner didn’t believe in him, he wouldn’t have given him his contract last year. The team is divided on Dak ONLY in the minds of those with an agenda. Like yourself.

I have zero proof to go on. Even so, I think Jerry Jones believes strongly in every player he has ever signed. Add any coach he has ever hired too. I also believe Jones would kick anyone to the curb if he either lost faith in them or they royally pissed him off--'sooner' rather than later.

I though you said Will McClay was the GM. So he must have been the one to give Dak the contract.

Jerry is not the GM.

Jerry is not the GM.
Some folks say that. I never have. It is possible I will start saying he is not the general manager when he either disappears from public view or is no longer with us.

...but I am not holding my breath if either of those two things happen. I do not trust Jerry Jones as far as I could fling him. And I really do want to try while using a catapult.

...I've always felt this idea was more main-scope how teams become champions. Not just superstars, but the guys in between.

Can't agree. KC's D had already been proven to be champ caliber, they simply ran up against the best OL in the business and their O ran up against the best D. Many great O's have been neutered by great DLines. 07 Patriots come to mind. To beat playoff QBs, you must get in their face and stay there. And playoff OLines are known for neutering outside pass rushers, you absolutely must get inside pressure in the playoffs.

The Eagles had 345 total yards in the super bowl. In today's NFL, that is definitely not running all over them. Philly was 3/12 on 3rd downs.

That super bowl was won by a swarming lockdown Philly D. KC's D wasn't that bad.
..that to me, is called Coaching. Gripping the moment and going all in on gameplan. Not like McCarthy. He approached every game, as just few change ups.

Lets hope, Shotty gives us something new.

No, I said Jerrys the GM but in name only. Will McClay does 95% of the work. Pay attention.
lmao...I can't believe Will McClay gave that stupid contract to Dak...dumb butt!

Sure he believed in him when he signed him but after that GB massacre nobody believes in Dak.

Talent alone will not win you a Super Bowl. Sure, you need A LOT of talent but that alone won’t get it done. Mahomes can’t win it all by himself. Barkley can ‘t win it all by himself. No one can. It takes all 53 and all 53 have to be as 1. There has to be team chemistry and by team chemistry I mean they all have to believe in each other to do their part. When there’s a cancer on the team, it affects the rest of the team in a negative way. Teams can’t operate efficiently consistently if they don’t believe in one another. Talent is much easier to acquire than good team chemistry is. You hear it from every Super Bowl locker room celebration how they all believed in each other, and worked hard to get through the tough stretches. You also need a lot of luck and I believe when you have good team chemistry luck seems to go your way.

Shotty seems to understand this as he’s been preaching team chemistry since the first hour he was hired. No one knows yet if the players are buying into it. That’s something we’ll find out this season. But the signs with Shotty at the helm give me much better vibes than any of the previous regimes since JJ. Can’t wait to see how things play out.
you also need some luck to stay healthy for the entire season, or at least not get too injured.

Oh Jerry believed in him up until that GB game and than he knew he had made a mistake giving him that contract. Only a fool would believe in Dak after watching his performance against GB. He's been getting worse with each playoff game. I think he has reached a point where he doesn't want to make the playoffs.

It will not matter if they make the playoffs, which I doubt they do, but if they do, it wont get any better when the deer comes out of the woods.

I guess you’re forced to live up to your handle.
