There seems to be too many revelations today for too many of you all. This stuff does not happen overnight. People that are just recognizing the simplicity of what Garrett want to do. People just recognizing the simplicity of what Marinelli wants to do. People just recognizing Witten's stranglehold on this organization. People just recognizing the lack of team speed.
On offense...we are a slow, plodding, lumbering mess. Which is why teams are pass rushing without impunity these days. Even when the play action protection was great...our slow plodding lumbering skill position players could not get separation. Even on the times when we have daylight...it disappears quickly because it takes to long for us to break free. Our guys do not catch the ball in open space...and even if they did...who are we making miss. And I don't need anyone to give me stats...the eye test does NOT lie.
On defense..we are still pretty much a slow plodding lumbering mess. We just decided to revamp the secondary..which finally brought speed to that position...but there will be growing pains I am willing to live with.
It is 2017....if you don't have speed on your team...you don't want it. Who do we have that creates mismatches before we take the field. Who does the opposition really have to gameplan for. What we are seeing from Jason Witten did NOT just happen. Again...don't give me stats. His snaps should have been gradually reduced every year over the past 4 years. He is essentially our #2 receiver...and he has no speed...no wiggle...and no chance of doing much after the catch. What we are seeing from Garrett did not just happen. The opposition has been saying for years that we are EASY to prepare for...because we are not trying to trick you. What we are seeing from Dez is just wear and tear from an offensive scheme that has asked him to play bully ball when it comes his way...or be a decoy to get slow plodding lumbering players open. We never schemed them open..we used Dez presence to get them open...and now that is not as simple as it used to be...and we look like hot garbage with all of these 3 and outs!
I said years ago that Jason Garrett is the WRONG coach for the way he is TRYING to win. He is NOT an X and O guy. Neither was Jimmy. But if you are not going to be an X and O guy...you have to be a supreme motivator and disciplinarian. Jason is NOT that either. He should be in the front office...or be a head coach at a major college program...where you simply overwhelm the opponent with talent and depth. That does not happen in the NFL. You don't get rosters with 100 5* recruits like you do at Alabama. You have to devise an attack on a WEEKLY basis to beat the opposition. You don't just roll out the ball in the NFL. Again..like I have been saying for years....Jason will never win 3 games in the postseason against good teams. He and his 'approach' has been here for 10 years....so the book on him has been out for a long time. We are WASTING our time. And quite frankly...I never wanted him to 'coach' the next QB of the future. It turns out Dak appears to be that guy...and if so...we need to rescue Dak from Jason before it is too late.
