It was brought up in another thread but who are your top 5 Cowboys of all time

I'm a youngster I came along in the mid 80s so I need some old timers to correct me.
My top 5

Coach Landry
Rodger
Irvin
Randy White
Tony D.

Honorable mention
E. Smith
D. Pearson
J. Witt

Feel free to school me if I'm way off
I'm only 28, so I'm limiting this to players/coaches I've actually seen.

Michael Irvin
D. Ware
Witten
B. Parcells
D. Bryant

Honorable Mentions
T. Romo
S. Lee
L. Allen

Hard to mix the players from the 60s & 70s with mid 80s forward.
Such a different game. But any list must include Rodger & Bob.
Then it gets hard.

I can only speak about the guys that I've seen play.

Since 2000:

1. Jason Witten
2. DeMarcus Ware
3. Tony Romo
4. Sean Lee (when healthy)
5. Terrell Owens

Honorable Mention: Larry Allen, Dez Bryant, Zack Martin, Travis Frederick, Terrence Newman

Well, I can argue with you cause I started watching NFL and following the boys since then too. Witten is a lock. Tony, well, maybe too. Ware was just too good to not pick him.

Now, Sean Lee? 2016 was his only one truly great. TO? C'mon, were talking best All time (in our case, since 2000). COWBOYS all time, he played for the birds, thats an instant out of list to me.

Now, if youre watching since 2000, you watched Emmitt, too. He cant be out of that list.

And LA was too good to leave out.

My list: (since 2000)

Witten, Romo, Ware, Emmitt, LA.

BUT, as I watched a lot of films and read bout our history and as much as I could, my list of cowboys ALL TIME would be:

1- Staubach.
2- Emmitt.
3- White.
4- Landry.
5- Witten.

Honorary Mention: Jimmy.

Tom Landry
Roger Staubach
Emmitt Smith
Bob Lilly
Phil Pozderac

In that order.

1. Roger
2. Dorsett
3. Martin and Martin
4. Lilly
5. Zeke and Dak

If we are including Landry then you gotta put Schramm in there

Troy Aikman
Micheal Irvin
Dez Bryant
Darren Woodson
Tony Romo

I just don't know how you can come up with a top 5 without feeling guilty of leaving a few names off the list.
Top ten might be easier and even then I don't if the order is correct just that I listed the top ten.

1. Coach Landry - He is a cowboy, player or not, and he will always be connected to the Cowboys and what he brought to both offense and defense.
2. Roger "Captain America" - talk about the all around, clean cut american guy. Still straight class to this day.
3. Roger Lilly - His Nick Name was Mr. Cowboy after all
4. The Manster - I started watching the cowboys when he came into the league.
5. Touchdown Tony - Emmitt may have the records but Tony was my favorite cowboy RB to watch
6. Troy - He was not the scrambling athlete like Roger and did not serve in the Military like Roger but they both are Similar in many ways.
7. Emmitt - TD was my favorite but Emmitt earned the records.
8. Larry Allen - Multiple Pro-Bowls at Multiple Positions...struck fear into opposping players to the point they would catch Allenitis a day or two before a game and have to sit out.
9. Jason Witten - If there is another Mr Cowboy - it is Jason Witten.
10. The Playmaker - His ability and manner on the field was without question. Emmitt might have been the muscle during those superbowls but the playmaker was the spark. Just wish he had less issues off the field.

Even with that list...there are still Hall of Famers left off of it.

1. Staubach
2. Emmitt
3. Drew Pearson
4. Randy White
5. Aikman

1. Aikman
2. Smith
3. Irvin
4. Witten
5. Allen

(List I've seen play)
HM: Lee, Woodson, Romo, Ware.

The top 3 were the catalyst for me watching the Cowboys. The Big 3. I always enjoyed watching Allen play due to how physically gifted he was. Stronger than an ox and was an great player at multiple spots. Witten, to me, is the 21st century Lilly.

I completely left Larry Allen off of mine. I should be flogged.

Tex Schramm should get equal billing to Landry.

Schramm was also known for innovations that helped redefine the modern NFL. These include instant replay, using computer technology in scouting, multi-color striping of the 20- and 50-yard lines, 30-second clock between plays, extra-wide sideline borders, wind-direction stripes on the goal post uprights, the referee's microphone, and the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. While leading the league's Competition Committee, he oversaw rule changes such as using overtime in the regular season, putting the official time on the scoreboard, moving goalposts from the front of the end zone to the back, and protecting quarterbacks through the in-the-grasp rule. Schramm's desire for a more comprehensive scouting combine led to the annual offseason NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.

Don Shula said of Schramm, "I truly believe he had as much, or more, to do with the success of professional football as anyone who has ever been connected with the league."
