It Was Fun While It Lasted

Tyron Smith hasn't played a down of football yet in this league and you are labeling him a bust? Go be a skins fan.

Don't look now, but your knee is jerking.

Nope, I go by what I see. While I realize those vids they have next to each first-rounders names are very limited, I just don't like what I see from this guy. Hell, half of his "highlights" are him, pushing a stunting lineman in the same direction he was already going, while the USC running back cuts back into a huge hole. Great.

I'm a firm believer in the quote in my signature, we need a team, not a collection of talent.

For all you know, this group we are putting together will be a better unit than the previous one. Keep the faith, there are a lot of teams out there that have won more games with less "talent" than we've had the last couple of years.

And if we suck, at least we may end up with high picks next year. ;)
Some people are never going to get it that you don't win anything by signing every free agent that is out there to fill your roster. How many Super Bowl champions went out and signed a bunch of free agents? Not many. You win by filling holes where needed, developing the players you already have, being able to keep your number 1 qb on the field. You don't win like the way the Commanders do it or some of these other teams doing it year in and year out.

All I read is how he is instrumental in making huge holes for the USC running back to cut back into.

We are still barely removed from being a dangerous team, that was better than the SB winning saints.

We have some of the most important parts of a competitive team. A more then viable QB, a few top pass catchers, and a LB who is a perennial sack artist.

Also, there could be something to say about our new coaching staff...

lol yup, everyone go ahead and move on to 2012... no sense in watching, no sense in hope, no sense in having a positive outlook... just be down in the dumps like the OP :(

This guy (OP) must really be a miserable person. I have never understood the woe is me, going to dress in all black, and cut myself personality. Life must really suck to live/think that way.

Go have your pity party for one somewhere else.

It appears over for us.

No it doesn't, unless you think Stephen Jones is a liar, along with everybody in the media. In which case, you're probably just making things up off the top of your head anyway.

The return of Tony Romo, the return and physical maturation of Dez Bryant, and the addition of Tyron Smith makes the offense better than it was last year. No question. How much better will be determined by two primary factors:

1) Health.

2) Dez Bryant's level of improvement.

That's what worries me, because I'm ALL IN on Bryant. I think he may very well be a top-five receiver THIS year. But yes, health is the concern. And while you can say that no one can predict injuries, you can certainly minimize the damage through depth. And as I said, we have none at the WR position.

As far as the defense, no, free agency isn't over yet. But what do we expect? The only way this defense gets appreciably better is if we land a top-flight corner, a top-flight safety and a top-flight DE. We may get one, maybe even two (although I highly doubt it), but even with that, this defense just doesn't do it for me.

How does Tyron Smith look like a bust when he hasn't even taken a snap in practice yet, much less a game?

As for the rest of your list...Patience. We had to cut the dead weight to make room for signings. We obviously started by locking up our own players first that we felt were crucial to our success...Mission accomplished!

Losing Bowen might sting right now, but with what he was offered I can't blame our guys for passing. We are now supposedly leading in the race for Cullen Jenkins, who would be an upgrade over Bowen anyway.

Lets give our staff the benefit of the doubt for now...Everything they've done thus far has certainly made sense. I'm sure we will sign a DB or two within the next few days as well, so let's not be so quick to jump the gun, Mmmmkay?

This board was better during the lockout. Kept some of these depressing posters away.

Honestly fellas, when I look at this team with non-biased eyes, I'm not liking what I'm seeing...

QB - We're good, Romo is a top-five QB (I don't care what anyone says) and we have one of the better backups in the league
WR - happy with starters, but ZERO depth now
RBs - Not bad, not great. Decent depth with the rook.
O-Line - What's to be excited about? We were pretty bad last year, horrific in the run game, and we simply retained some of our guys. Tyron Smith? This guy looks like a bust to me. At any rate, he's a rook.

D-Line - We just lost Bowen. We are weaker than we were last year...and we sucked last year
Linebackers -- How Brooking still has a job on this team, I have no idea. Speaks to how little we have behind him moreso than his actual effectiveness, he is OLD and is showing every bit of it. D-Ware, Spencer, fine.
D-Backs -- Lost cause, one of the worst units in the NFL as it currently stands. Newman and Jenkins can't cover, our safeties can't cover nor can they support the run. But other than that, they're fine.

Special Teams -- Our kicker blows. He can kick them into the endzone on kickoffs, but does anyone really have any faith in this guy when it comes to a pressure kick?

Should be a great 2011!

He said he watched one highlight reel on the internet and decided he wasn't impressed.

I believe this qualifies him to be a scout in the Raiders organization.
