It Was Fun While It Lasted

Wrong. Last pre-season, the "all is well!" sunshine brigade endlessly and annoyingly told us not to worry about the woeful offense. "Stop overreacting! It's just a vanilla offense! They'll turn it around in the regular season! You'll see!" Still waiting for the mea culpa.

Offense ended up not being a problem as much as the defense. Most teams who score over 24 points a game which the Cowboys did tend to win more than they lose unless their defense is giving up 27 a game

Honestly fellas, when I look at this team with non-biased eyes, I'm not liking what I'm seeing...

QB - We're good, Romo is a top-five QB (I don't care what anyone says) and we have one of the better backups in the league
WR - happy with starters, but ZERO depth now
RBs - Not bad, not great. Decent depth with the rook.
O-Line - What's to be excited about? We were pretty bad last year, horrific in the run game, and we simply retained some of our guys. Tyron Smith? This guy looks like a bust to me. At any rate, he's a rook.

D-Line - We just lost Bowen. We are weaker than we were last year...and we sucked last year
Linebackers -- How Brooking still has a job on this team, I have no idea. Speaks to how little we have behind him moreso than his actual effectiveness, he is OLD and is showing every bit of it. D-Ware, Spencer, fine.
D-Backs -- Lost cause, one of the worst units in the NFL as it currently stands. Newman and Jenkins can't cover, our safeties can't cover nor can they support the run. But other than that, they're fine.

Special Teams -- Our kicker blows. He can kick them into the endzone on kickoffs, but does anyone really have any faith in this guy when it comes to a pressure kick?

Should be a great 2011!

You are the anti-Crazy Cowboy.

You basically asked to get blasted in here. 1st day of TC and you already have the umbrella out as if the sky was falling.

I don't get some people.

It's just the first day of TC. Stop overreacting. We're very vanilla right now. We'll turn it around. ;)

Your opinion of Romo will be looked upon by some as being homer-driven and unrealistic. I was accused of being crazy for believing Romo is on the same level as Tom Brady or Peyton Manning are right now. Hope you got your bullet-proof vest on :laugh2:

The offense didn't seem to be the problem last year. The defense, however, was miserable.

The pre-season lethargy certainly carried over into the first game vs the Skins. Alex Barron had some critically bad plays, but that doesn't explain almost 60 minutes of ineptitude.

Who's fault do you think that was on?

Garrett and the players, obviously. Wade had nothing to do with the offense.

You do realize that Garrett said that last season under Wade that he did not want to "overstep" Wade's authority during practice or any other part of Wade's philosophy on how to run a team, right?

So, no, IMO, Wade was responsible for the team not being ready to play...offense, defense, and SP teams. You know, the Head Coach responsibility thing?

The Eagles last year looked like the most pathetic thing in the NFL. Now they are the favorites in the NFC. The NFL changes quickly, so even if this year is a lost cause, Bruce Carter, Smith & Murray develop combined with a good draft next year & a strong free agency class one of the 2 years, and were back in super bowl contention.

Lets see who all the "Garrett the Great" supporters blame when we play poorly this season, it won't be the HC.

I get ripped on for calling Miles Austin a top 10 receiver. I always need my bullet-proof vest on :)

It will be for me, that's for sure because he is the HC now.

But, at the same time, I don't run and hide to moan and groan right now because the season has not even started yet!

Get it?

(i doubt it)

You think a fact is going to matter?

What is your definition of "fact"?

You do know you are addressing an Attorney, right?

Glad you don't run and hide, very impressive !

Just pre-emptive moaning. Lowering personal expectations helps deal with the failure which we all know is coming. The past decade plus leads one to keep the expectations down, especially during the pre-season.

My idea or definition of a fact is something not easily ignored, refuted, or proven wrong.

Last year people were talking about a vanilla approach by the offense so as not to show anyone anything. That did NOT carry over to the season where the team scored almost 400 points.

What sucked was the Defense which surrendered 436 points, 2nd most in the NFL.

So calling out the people who talked about the vanilla offense is missing the boat and theogt saw right through it.
