It was the injuries people.

I still say that injuries to Romo, Barber, Witten, Flozell, Kosier, RW11, RW38, TNew and Cricket --thats 9 starters-- and Jones, Holland, Austin, Hurd, Spencer, Burnett, Jenkins, Brown, Watkins, Davis and Pacman --thats 11 primary backups-- are by and far the biggest reason we lost 7 games.

That is 20 or half of the people that you count on to come in and play significant snaps every game either being out or playing through serious injuries. At least 6 of them for half of the year or more.

Let that sink in again: HALF OF THE MEN THAT WERE COUNTED ON TO TAKE SIGNIFICANT SNAPS EVERY GAME EITHER WERE OUT OR PLAYED THROUGH SERIOUS INJURY.

I hear people vilify Flozell for this and its sad because he played on one leg and one arm from about 2/3 of the season. Losing Romo hurt a lot as did the season ending injuries to Kosier, Holland and RW38. Watching guys like Witten and Barber, two of our offensive stars, playing like the walking wounded was hard to watch. As was seeing Keith Davis struggle to move to cover guys in the last game because his legs just weren't there.

I applaud guys like Witten, Adams, Davis, Barber, and Romo for going out and playing anyway despite what were obviously painful and debilitating injuries. Romo was so banged up at the end of the season he literally collapsed in the shower.

I know people want to point the finger at someone. Jones, Wade, Garrett, Romo and TO are all popular targets nowadays

We all bleed silver and blue and we all would sleep better at night if something were done that we felt were a change for the better.

Its just not that simple.

I think it was Parcells that said that there were about 30 people that you considered starters each and every week. Well 20 of ours were hurt. You could bring in Cowher with Shanahan and Capers as his coordinators next year and if 20 of their guys were hurt, I don't think they get a winning record.

Does this team need tweaking? You bet your backside and the Read firing was a good start. Garrett needs to grow a sack and call the plays he wants not the plays his WR wants. They need to look at Houck and get some more depth/youth in the interior line. We need a backup QB and some help at safety DL and ILB. Guys like Tank Johnson who like to bark and not bite need to be let go.

Romo, RW11, and Sherman need to take a month or so off and then get back to VR and work their butts off to play well together.

I am done running around like an idiot being upset at how the year went. We were absolutely devastated by injury. C'est la vie.

The more i think about it, the more I think that Jones is taking what is the fair and right approach. The fans don't like it but he is not acting like a fan.

That is a good thing.

Injuries and poor offensive coaching. Fix those two things and this is one heckuva team.

I tell you Tony Romo was not 100%. Not even close. It limited us badly, and we had no backup we could turn to to give him a week off to heal.

I agree with the original post.

The injuries were a killer. But I think it would be a mistake for this franchise to think the injuries were the source for all of the problems.

As the original post said, things need to be re-evaluated. Players are going to have to decide what is most important to them. Coaches are going to have to decide what is most important to them too. I mean, do these guys want to win, or do they just want ease and comfort?

I believe that ridding the lockerroom of a couple of characters would go a long way toward fixing the problem. Next, I would make sure that everyone knew that the guys who produced would be the guys who played, paychecks be damned. Do that, and players can either fall in line or get out of town.

injuries were only a very small part. unless you qualify stupid players, bad attitudes, lack of heart, & lack of leadership as injuries.

Excuses.

Heard them all season.

Will hear them all offseason.

Will hear them after we go 5-11 next season.

Loser talk. We were pretty much healthy for the Philly game but got obliterated anyway. It's this kind of dissembling that encourages Jerry to think that we're one player or coach away from NFL nirvana.

It was not the injuries. It did not help, but the Desperate Housewives of Valley Ranch showed their true lack of spirit.

Injuries were a part of it. Being a group instead of a team were another.
Poor coaching was the biggest.

The excuses continue.

Funny, with Brad Johnson we managed to beat the Tampa Bay Bucs, which turned out to be a huge win.

I agree with the poster that said Tony Romo wasn't 100%.

However, he looked pretty dang good toward the end of that Ravens game.

Even with key injuries, the Cowobys still fielded some pretty strong talent.

Heck up to that point, Tashard Choice ran for more yards on the Steelers than any other Runningback this year.

LOL @ injuries. I believe the patriots had 17 players on IR including a fella named Tom Brady. Try again!

Uh......what?

You think backups at SS and LG explain 44-6? I'd throw in Barber, but Choice gave us more than enough in the running game. Stuff the self-pity and navel gazing.
