It would be nice if they would give Tolbert a start

You had no choice with RW. When you give a kings ransom for a player you can’t just let him walk. He was extended
They certainly didn't have to play him the 2nd year and he was cut out of the league very quickly after that.

Last week is enough in my book.
The problem is Tolbert hasn’t really done much himself. He hasn’t had a catch or a target the past two games. No assurances he’s going to be any better and could end being worse. Granted Gallup is struggling but he did have 6 catches for 92 yards against AZ and 5 for 60 yards against New England. He hasn’t been downright terrible.

You know, if you find yourself wondering if Jalen Tolbert could be the spark this offense needs, you might just not have enough good pass catchers. Again.

Jerry wasn’t about to admit he was wrong after giving up at first and third Williams. It took an injury to get him out of the lineup and Miles Austin’s franchise record 250 yards kept him out of the lineup as a starter.

What has Tolbert done?
I could say give Turpin a chance because he makes explosive plays. I agree Tolbert should get more snaps for development, but I can't agree with handing him a position because Gallup is slumping.

Although Gallup hasn’t returned to form and has struggled he still hasn’t been bad enough for them to bench him for Tolbert. Gallup has experience and has made plays for us. The team is going to give him every chance to come around before they make a drastic move, replacing him with an inexperienced receiver who only has 7 career catches.

he should start when he earns it.

I don't think he has done anything yet to warrant it .... but maybe he has in practice.

Just the entire training camp.
He had a good training camp, but he's played 37% of snaps this season so its not like he hasn't been getting more playing time.

I too am curious to see his growth on the field, but its clear the Cowboys trust Gallup more. If Gallup continues to have these 10 target 3 reception type days that may change.

With the money Gallup is making this downward trend he’s on is going to have to continue for a while longer before they bench him for Tolbert.

I agree. They believe in Gallup and will try to see him through this "slump." It'll take a couple more absolute garbage games for a switch.

He has experience and they’re just hoping that eventually he’ll come around. Tolbert hasn’t done anything to make me think he’s a better option.

I'm looking forward to seeing Jalen Brooks as much as I am Jalen Tolbert. I think both will end up being good, eventually.

Exactly. Jerry and Co. don't want to admit their error in judgement (again) and will force Gallup on the field regardless of results.
You can't have the money guys making the football decisions.

I believe as much as we are frustrated with Gallup, there are two things blocking the idea of starting Jalen Tolbert ahead of Gallup:
  1. The coaches are going to start who they believe gives us the best chance to win. If they honestly believed Tolbert is a better option, they would start him. Maybe they will at some point.
  2. The biggest block to Tolbert starting- Our GM (and owner) adamantly believes in starting players according to contract value first and foremost. The Zeke-Pollard situation last year is a perfect example.
