It's early, but lets look at the 2nd round options

The 1st round has already been argued to death and most likely not going to change much over the next 3 months. So I was looking ahead to the 2nd round and started making a list of guys I would consider with our second rounder and was blown away with how long my list was getting. Really makes me like the idea of trading back if Goff goes #2. Let someone else take Lynch, Bosa, Tunsil, or Treadwell and lets get 2 guys instead.

Now obviously its way early and a decent amount of these guys may not be there when we pick at 34 come April, but I think it's safe to put all of these guys anywhere in the 25-50 range right now. And these are in no particular order.

Kendall Fuller CB Va Tech
Eli Apple CB Ohio St
Kevin Dodd DE Clemson
Carl Nassib DE Penn State
Scooby Wright LB Arizona
Christian Hackenberg QB Penn State
Noah Spence DE Eastern Kentucky
Josh Perry LB Ohio St
Sua Cravens S/LB USC
Josh Doctson WR TCU
Tyler Boyd WR Pitt
Jonathan Allen DE Bama
Jonathan Bullard DE Florida
Alex Collins RB Arkansas
Kenneth Dixon RB La Tech
OJ Howard TE Bama
Austin Johnson DT Penn State
Shon Coleman OT Auburn
Michael Thomas WR Ohio St
Will Fuller WR Notre Dame
Artie Burns CB Miami

So what do you guys think? Trade back 5-10 spots in the 1st for an extra 2nd and 4th? How awesome would it be to get Zeke + 2 defensive guys in rounds 1 and 2 and still have 4 picks before the 5th round starts.

My list is pretty small right now. I really don't expect it to change much either until the combine. The 3rd Rd is where I'm really struggling to narrow it down.

In order
Jaylon Smith if he falls
Sua Cravens
Kenny Clark
Noah Spence(would be higher, but is better suited for a 3-4)
Darron Lee

It's a tough call because so many of these guys have a chance to jump into the first. Cravens is already a fringe first rounder with the potential to shoot up boards. Even with the injury, I don't think Jaylon Smith slides to the second, he's just too good and could/should be back for training camp anyway.

I think Nassib is a guy with first round talent who would look great with a star. Love his motor and versatility. Obviously I wouldn't go that route if we get Bosa though.
If Karl Joseph is there, I grab him without hesitation.
Fuller would be a great corner in this defense. He has versatility and a lot of toughness. I think he could play inside or outside here.
OJ Howard is probably going to climb into the first, but if not I wouldn't hate taking him in the second.

Since Elliott will be off the board I am looking at Derrick Henry should he be on the board.

Keanu Neal is a dark horse, some services place him as the #2 safety behind Ramsey. Straight up enforcer.

I would welcome the trade down option if it nets another premium choice.

Of that list, you can take Jonathan Allen off, he is staying at Alabama.

I would take Doctson (although I think he goes late first), Dodd, Perry, Kendall Perry and Bullard, in that order.

Dodd especially is interesting to me.

If Treadwell in 1st, I would love Austin Johnson in 2nd, he's the 1 tech we need

On the flip side, for every player that jumps into the first round, another that's already there will fall to the second. Bottom line, there's going to be some great quality available with both picks.

No doubt. The second and third round of this draft are the strength. There isn't a tremendous amount of elite talent, but the very good second tier is extremely deep in this draft.

Indeed, and that has me excited! It wouldn't bother me if we take the picks as they are now, and it wouldn't bother me to see a trade down for an additional pick(s). We're going to get three or four really good players either way.

With everything you keep hearing...I worried we are gonna be forced to reach for a CB.....

with that being said....I still think we go QB in the 1st...then DT in the 2nd. There might be a couple of guys that are there that will be good value...Jarran Reed DT Alabama....Jonathan Bullard DT Florida...Maliek Collins DT Nebraska

Darian Thompson, FS, Boise St
Noah Spence, DE, E Kentucky
Jarran Reed, DT, Alabama
Kendall Fuller, CB, Va Tech
Josh Doctson, WR, TCU
Austin Johnson, DT, Penn St

I doubt it will happen but if Nkemdiche has another incident and drops to round 2, I snap him up and hope Marinelli can teach him how to be a player.
