It's early, it's only one drive, but who is starting to buy into the Romo bandwagon?

I sure hope you're right.. and based on what we saw today we might just -finally- have something here.

If so, it sure would beat wasting a 1st round pick on a Qb that might end up being a complete bust.

Also, even though the seahawks were without a couple of D players we were also without our #1 WR.
...and our #2 WR for the majority of the game, and our #1 TE who only played what.. 14 snaps? And yet again no real running game.. and..

He looked better in that one preseason game than Quincy looked in his whole career.

Not to say that means he's QB of the future or anything, but it was nice to see him play a full game and respond well. Hopefully the only regular season games we see him this season will be mop-up duty or maybe a meaningless game at the end of the season because the Cowboys have already secured the Division Title and home field throughout the playoffs.

TO did not come here to have a neophyte like Romo throwing passes to him. It's Bled or bust this year.

I'm not actualy 'on" the bandwagon. But I liked what I saw at the showroom and I'm scheduling a test drive for the 21st. :)

Mmmmm..I hoping for the best. I'm sure hearing way more positive things about him than Henson. Wonder if Hensons' gonna get even any playing time?

Cue the overreaction.

And if he would have sucked... everything would have been just the opposite. But yeah, everyone overreacts about one game, regardless of the player. I agree with that.

I just watched the game (thank you mick!) and here is what I thought on Romo...

I went in watching openly and then drew (no pun) up my thoughts on it all.

The Good:
  • Romo has a QUICK trigger... very nice.
  • He goes through progressions very fast and dumps off to the "safe" choice if nothing else is opened. That shows maturity in not trying to make the bigger play every time, which can result in turnovers.
  • He has decent mobility and used it well to move around. (I wish he would slide feet first... I don't want him to get hurt)
  • He throws the ball in a good place for the WRs to catch. They didn't really have to work to get it.
  • I like his intangibles, which makes for a poised QB incase of a 2 min drill late in a game.
  • He manages the game very well and doesn't force the issue.
The Not-so-good:
  • His trigger is so quick that he may not let a WR fully develop his route, but I don't know if that was a problem in this particular game because nothing deep was called. No flag routes, corners, etc. All the routes seemed to be quick routes (perhaps to take advantage of Romos best asset?)
  • I know Bill says "every 100 yards should be 1 TD"... 13 points on 330+ yards? I'm sure Bill will point that out. Maybe it was the play calling or Romo just playing it safe... but with the nice drives he put together, I was hoping for TDs and not FGs. 1st and goal from the 3 should end in a touchdown.
  • 2 fumbled snaps is never good. I don't know who those were on, but hopefully he just wasn't used to the centers out there. I don't know... it needs to be fixed, though.
  • Can Romo throw a deep ball or not? That wasn't really answered this game... obviously Parcells wanted to keep the play calling easy and the routes short. I want to see Romo air some out... hopefully next game he will get the chance.
Overall, I came away more comfortable about the backup situation. Romo reminds me of a right-handed Brunell when he was with Jacksonville. Don't take it the wrong way, because I realize it was just one preseason game and Romo has still never thrown a pass in a game that counts. However, I still see the similarities. Romo isn't as mobile, but they both play similar. Arm strength is comparable. The "moxie" factor is comparable... Brunell was very good at bringing his teams back.

I've been a Romo supporter from back in the old day on the old site. I got shot down when I said that he looked better than both Carter and Hutch. I consequently got shot down with 'What has he shown.'

Here's the thing though. One game doesn't make a season. I want to see him do this each week of preseason before we knee-jerk and put our foot in our mouths.

I think some of that knee-jerk has caused some of us to root against current players because we now have an agenda to show we are right. Just plain disgusting.

I liked Romo from the beginning (go search the old mazevo site) and was ridiculed for it but I don't feel the need to put down other Dallas Cowboy players to make myself feel better. I think some of you that do, also drive sports cars to compensate for something.

Keep in mind Romo and the Offense was up against 2nd and 3rd teamers most of the night. The NFL East has got some tough Defenses to play against, Its preseason and they wont play there backups for ROMO come Sept

I did say Romo is definite played goodly for us. Most time to he might be steel of the leagues intire off seasons work.

While dirty old Snyder money grubs his way to big busted contrtactual tipe overspents on the likes of Randell L and Brandon Loy (witch I laughs at every time I wake up after a sleep) and sum such as that.

On the other hand our good old big boss man Mister Jerry Jones just lay out some decoys on the lake and sit quiet like behind them tall weeds out yonder and begin waiting at them ducks to come into site then he go and blast them down at only the costings of some buckshot on the cheap. Then he hands em over to Big Bill what so he can cleans and dresses em up proper just like grammy do for Sunday supper.

Yep me likes old Romo and all the other players on the cheap tipe finds our brain truss done come up with mostly expert at and some such.

Makes me all squirty inside and feel warm good on the future team happenings yet to come around this seasons and beyondings.

I've been watching him ever since Parcells picked him up right after the draft and said he liked him. Haven't had much of a chance to see what he could do, but last night I saw enough to know that while he has a lot to learn yet, he justifies Parcells' confidence.

If Henson is going to beat him out, then he will have to be every bit as good as advertised. It's a win-win situation and I like those.

Don't over-react guys, that was 4 quarters of "practice" against a very vanilla defense thaat threw no blitzes at Romo. He did do well though and makes me feel better about the backup situation now. Be it Romo or Henson we will be fine. Henson could have done exactly what Romo did lastnight so I am still a bit skeptical about what Romo will do against a starting NFL defense that has game planned for him.

I agree.

It might not be saying much, but Romo looks better than Carter ever did.

Yeah, no kidding. Whoopdee freakin' doo, its preseason.

I wouldnt be shocked if neither one of these turkeys is on the roster next year

Dude, don't cry......

It's so obvious that Romo is our QB - he was made to run this offense....he's got confidence...he's got a gunslingers mentality and he's precise...We have a young D- young RB's Some young OL's young TE's some emerging young WR's - so why not a young QB?
I never want to see Bledslow take another snap for us...in fact if we released him today - I'd call out sick tomorrow b/c I'd drink my face off tonite...

The last thing our QB needs is a gunslinger mentality:lmao2:

Romo did well in NOT displaying one:cool:
