According to the article, he was paid much less than most punters, and that's a big reason they may opt to keep him.
He is getting paid 2 million a year. 4 years and 8.7 million. Isn’t the normal pay about 1 million a year. I could be wrong.

Here's what was written, @glimmerman

Jones’ average punt has been at least 44 yards his entire career, but that dipped down to 41 yards last season. His long in 2019 was 58 yards, a dip from the 63-66 yard range the previous three seasons. Many, including fellow staff writer Jess Haynie, have argued it’s time for the Cowboys to move on from Chris Jones, but his team friendly contract makes that a bit unlikely.

As Jess noted, most punters make far more annually than Jones, and the Cowboys have gotten a bargain on Jones throughout the year. Recently, though, he’s been performing how you’d expect someone with his cap hit to perform.

I stand corrected. Lol. Guess a punter gig is pretty descent. I still want to be a long snapper.

Just spend a whopping 6th round pick on the best punter available and be done with it. Itll be cheaper, and probably more effective, than whatever "good deal" Jones is giving Dallas.

Our ST were terrible and this is a franchise with "win now" aspirations. Dont get cute. Just improve the obvious weak spot and stop trying to spin it.

Wouldn’t mind seeing us draft a kicker.
