It's last offseason all over again

Exactly. Why kick Dak's cap hits into the future if you aren't trying to seize this moment now? It's bizarre.

So right now, we've pushed millions of Dak's contract into future years (when he will likely be much worse) and we are using that savings to build what likely will be a worse team than last year's.

Hahaha. Make it make sense.
Same way it may no sense to delay Dak & Ceedee's signings until after FA last year. It appears they simply have no idea what they are doing and are shooting from the hip.

There are valid ways to retool to be competitive or to rebuild for the future, but they have not made any understandable strategic effort to do either. Instead it seem they have one foot in and one foot out.

What they will ultimately accomplish is a decimation of the roster with a few top heavy stars and weak support elsewhere, fielding a middling uncompetitive team with not much ammo for future improvement.

Lewis is gone. Golston is gone. I suspect Dowdle is likely out of here at some point.

Last year's offseason was essentially watching decent depth pieces run off and the Cowboys backfilled them with cheaper, worse options and then tried to plug the dam with draft picks. It didn't work (it never works).

They are doing it again this year it appears. Golston is out. They'll find some cheaper, worse JAG at some point. Lewis is gone. They'll come up with some awful CB option that is again, worse but at least cheaper. We appear to have already signed Dowdle's replacement and the trend continues with that new guy being worse but cheaper.

And then we will be told we will fix our issues in the draft.

It's the same thing over and over.

PS - This stupidity in FA is why our drafting is slowly getting more and more inconsistent. Because we are forcing ourselves into having to draft based on need because we refuse to actually bring in a quality FA or two that can fix one of our many issues each offseason.
Agreed.

I am holding out hope that there is some sort of plan but I highly doubt it.

And we cherish those round 5-7 draft picks that will light the world on fire

This is what you would call expected behavior.

I have no idea why anyone would think it would be any different. The two idiots up top have no idea what they are doing. 30 years of sucking doesn't make you better at your job - it only reinforces the degree to which you suck.

But............................................... This year the results will be Different !!!!!!!!

Fully agree except the only difference is the FO cleared cap ahead of time. At this point though, I don't even know why they went through the cap clearing exercise to the degree they did if no one notable was going to be signed.
They have to wait till the first week of the season after Micah holds out the entire training camp to cave and over pay him. It’s the Jones way. Let’s lose practice time with a new defensive scheme and staff and pay much more than we could a couple weeks ago before Crosby and Garret got deals. That front office genius at its finest.

I really, really hope it's VERY noticeable TO JERRY that the fan base is tired of this crap.
I am hopeful of that as well, but let’s face it…Jerry is first and foremost a businessman, not a GM despite his inclinations to the contrary; and the only things a businessman pays attention to is asset appreciation and profitability, all else, such as winning divisional/conference titles and Super Bowls are ancillary.

As long as those seats fill up, even if they are opposing fans (because they were originally bought by Dallas ticket holders), they get all the ratings, merchandise sold, I promise you they don't care. I will say, the fanbase has become a lot more uneasy since the end of the 2023 season to GB in the playoffs with how they approached that offseason that led to the dumpster 2024 season. Jerry was usually good at his snake oil salesman tactics but even he couldn't sell positivity last season.

But changing their ways and hiring a real GM will just prove he was wrong the last 3 decades. That is all ego. I wish nothing but misery for that family. I know it won't happen because they have billions to drown their sorrows.

They’ve actually done a lot more than last year. No game changers but at least not relying on only draft picks to replace the depth that’s leaving the team.

Last year they hardly resigned anyone and only signed Kendricks in FA. This year they’ve made 7-8 resignings and 3 external signings.

5 Big holes still to go but it’s not all hopeless yet.

They signed Thomas who is worse than Golston.

They signed Williams, which is apparently because they won't pay Dowdle. He's worse than Dowdle.

Not exactly sure how these guys relieve pressure on the draft. They do no such thing. If anything, they put more pressure on the reality they need a front line starter at RB now and better DL play.

It's JAG-a-palooza all over again. Yeah it's hopeless. They are doing the same thing they've done for a decade now and it's failed every single year.

Thomas is a DT. Gholston is a DE. With Williams and a rookie you’ll get more production for less money than if you just signed Dowdle.

You don’t get better by bringing back most of the same guys from a losing team the year before without addding some players that are better than what you resign or lose.
