Okay, at this point we were going to lose the game anyway. But Minnesota is punting with about 35 seconds to go. Dez Bryant gets the reception.

ONCE HE SAW HE HAD NO CHANCE TO GET ANYWHERE HE SHOULD HAVE SIMPLY GONE OUT OF BOUNDS AT, PERHAPS, THE 12 YARD LINE OR SO. Give the team maybe 20 something seconds to pull off a miracle.

But instead he jukes back and forth and runs the clock down to 13 seconds. Cowboys should have had two more plays at the end.

Okay, I agree that at that point the game was for all intents and purposes lost. But you still have to know "when to use your head". The return play was not smart.

I'll tell you one thing. I know Mike Leach would have gone for a first down instead of punting on fourth and five with 2:42 to go in the game.
Another factor in the loss was that in my opinion you simply go for it at the 2:42 mark and don't turn the ball over to Minnesota. I may be slightly wrong about how much time was left, but I think I am very close. Why not go for it on fourth down? You CAN'T be afraid to lose by ten instead of three. A loss is a loss.

Thoughts?

Considering he has already run one back for a TD, had an amazing long return wiped out by a penalty during yesterdays game and almost broke this play for a miracle, I'd say my thoughts are your wrong.

I agree that you are completely wrong. Dez is a weapon and wasnt that far from making something happen on that return. With players that have the big play ability you dont want them to stop taking chances.

Of all things to criticize today this one just doesnt hold any water.

Dez believes in himself and wants the ball in his hands when the game is on the line. That is hard to find in a player. He has a fire and aggressiveness that you cant coach and you would be stupid to try and coach one of his strengths out of him.

Just me opinion

I will never blame a player for trying TOO hard. You really think they are going to go 88 yards in less than half a minute against that defense?

TBH our best chance for a comeback in that spot is a punt return. Dez is capable of making a play there, and he tried. No fault.

I personally would have sent an all out rush on the punter and try to block it. As I heard one coach say a while back all it takes is a snap a bit to low or high to give the rush team enough time to have a legit chance at blocking the punt.
