I believe the Cowboy have the scouting dept in place to continue to run successful drafts, it's the fact that it has been often reported Ireland mostly concentrates on current NFL players and FA specifically for the Cowboys. If Jerry had Ireland concentrating a majority of his efforts in that area my concern is what does Ireland take with him and what does it leave us.

Brian Gaine is the director of pro scouting and a very good one at that. If Ireland takes him, then worry.

I would like to think they have made a deal with the Dolphins...you can have Ireland, but on the premise you leave the rest of the scouting staff alone.

Possible but not likely.

If Parcells and his new GM decide to offer Gaine the same position Ireland held in Dallas, the Cowboys could not deny him the right to pursue it.

Yes, they could, if he's under contract. And I doubt moving from 2nd in line behind the owner to 4th in line behind the owner would be viewed as much of a promotion to Jerry.

Actually I think they can. Jerry could have refused to let Ireland interview since he was under contract. The only case in the NFL, that I know of, where you have to let someone interview is where a coordinator is being offered a HC gig.

I stand corrected.

Hopefully, Ireland's ego is as big as BP's and he'll think he could do it on his own.
