News: It's official: Cowboys vs Eagles in NFL Opener

CeeDee Lamb & George Pickens – Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys made a splash by pairing George Pickens with All-Pro CeeDee Lamb.

Lamb remains the focal point of Dallas’ passing attack, while Pickens brings vertical explosiveness that was missing in 2024.

2024 Season Stats:

  • CeeDee Lamb: 101 receptions, 1,194 yards, 6 TDs (11.8 YPC)
  • George Pickens: 59 receptions, 900 yards, 3 TDs, (15.3 YPC – with Pittsburgh)
Though Pickens is new to the Dallas Cowboys, his ability to stretch the field should complement Lamb’s versatility.

If their chemistry clicks, this could become the most electric duo in the division.

This could end up being the biggest factor in taking the game 1 against the Eagles.
Well then, Dak should have no problems at least winning one playoff game this year!!!

First Game Coach Victories:

Barry Switzer

Barry Switzer, the legendary Oklahoma Sooners coach, took the reins of a Dallas team coming off back-to-back Super Bowl wins.

Expectations were sky-high. Switzer made his debut on September 4, 1994, against the Pittsburgh Steelers, leading the Cowboys to a 26–9 win at Texas Stadium.

Chan Gailey

Against Pittsburgh -
Dallas won 38–10, with Troy Aikman throwing for three touchdowns and the defense forcing multiple turnovers.

Wade Phillips

Giants-
It was a high-scoring affair, with QB Tony Romo leading the way in a 45–35 shootout victory.

Schottenheimer’s Challenge

Now, Brian Schottenheimer steps into a similar spotlight, but with arguably a tougher draw.

The Dallas QB is better. The Dallas defensive ends are better. The Dallas special teams are better.
Well that will have to be proven on the field... But as far as the trenches go Philly usually has the advantage so we'll see how that all works out i'm any rested to see all these big fatties how they work out.. :muttley: .

dont dismiss Tolbert ,610 12,2 YPC and 7 Tds.. good 3 now.. This has reminded me of Cooper Lamb and Gallup when they were all playing really well when you add in Cedric Wilson that can be our Turpin at WR4 or some one else TBD...

This marks only the second time in NFL history that the Cowboys and Eagles have faced off in Week 1.

The first came in 2000, a game infamous in Dallas history.

Philadelphia dominated with a 41–14 win at Texas Stadium in the so-called “Pickle Juice Game.”

Don't sleep in... :starspin:

Without hesitation, Dallas special teams is better. :starspin:

Dallas has a stronger matchup in receiving and it's speed at receiver is not outmatched as well. Dallas tight ends is more supportive in running the ball and straight up the field.

Look in the mirror...his rookie season should have added at least a win and changed your projected crying into a winning percentage here and now. Their being cheated out of a last two minute win would have by itself left 'Da' at 3-5.

Not ignore, then ignorant applies.
The facts are the facts, not speculation. You really want to crow about a "potential" 3-5 playoff record? I'm not crying, I'm stating the truth. You are the one making excuses. Sorry if you consider the truth "ignorant." You might want to polish that mirror for yourself...although I doubt you'd have the balls to find the truth in what you see. Now let's hear your next "intellectual" comeback to explain away the truth.

I think this is a desperate move by the NFL. They know fans are fed up with Jerry, putting the most popular franchise in danger of losing that status. That will hurt the entire league.
Likewise, fans are upset after the way Taylor Swift seemingly kept a mediocre team in the Super Bowl.
So I wouldn't be surprised if they have done this and set it up for the Cowboys to win, and restore fans of the most loved franchise with confidence that Jerry may have known what he was doing all along.

Don't need to. You are wrong from your start. :muttley: First off, I don't brow beat.

No crowing as DAK PRESCOTT started out with 13 wins. How many of those come around?

He led 3 12 win seasons and in 2013 was runner up at League MVP...now make up YOUR excuses.

Right now Dak is a better QB in statistics than what Philadelphia has. The difference right now may just be in quality of team around him.

Run along or just keep up with your sqwaking bias for now.

No, the TV market with a Dallas game is still top shelf. The NFL still moves to make money.

That runner up to MVP and a $10 bill gets you a Starbucks coffee and nothing else

Based on EPA/dropback when trailing in the final five minutes, Dak Prescott ranks No. 6 in the NFL since 2020. Only Joe Burrow, Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes rank ahead of him. That’s pretty good company to keep.

Jalen Hurts is a much different story. Aided enormously by his All-Star cast, Hurts rarely has to do much heavy lifting as a passer late in games. When he does, the results are rather paltry. Trailing in the final five minutes, Hurts ranks 37th in the NFL, behind names like Bryce Young, Daniel Jones and Mac Jones.

Is it more important to you that the Eagles don’t win the Super Bowl than the Cowboys win it? If the Lions, Bills, Ravens, Rams, Chiefs win it, is that satisfactory? It’s not the Eagles winning playoff games that concerns Cowboys fans. It’s the Cowboys not winning them. Except you, of course.

One QB wins during the regular season and doesn't win in the playoffs. The other QB wins a little less during the regular season but steps up and wins in the playoffs and Super Bowl. You truly are a waste of time if you don't see this.

Apparently Eagles fans are calling the opener an extra pre-season game.....
Not this fan. While I do feel the Eagles are the better team, perhaps much better, I don’t look at things that way. I’ve watched the NFL for far too long to be fooled by ‘paper matchups’. The Eagles roster is very strong… But it’s also really young. It’s going to be interesting to see how they handle success early this season… And with a harder schedule.

They only play six regular season games against teams that were not playoff teams last season. For Eagles fans this is one of their “breathers”.
We will see.

This is when you want to hit them

New coach, new scheme, a legit WR2 and legit RB with Blue.

They won’t have much film on us but we have an idea what they want to do.

Hurts has a higher win percentage than Prescott in games started in the regular season.
