even with the nice win vs Philly, we are still the living picture of mediocrity...bad teams find ways to lose, bad teams never improve on things they do poorly, bad teams make the same mistakes week after week, bad teams cant score more than 1 td in 4 out of their 7 games, bad teams melt down defensively virtually every time a game is on the line...bad teams are plagued by special teams miscues, and bad teams usually cant overcome bad officiating...
1) its time to probably start seeing that offensively, we just arnt very good...even when we had all the pieces out there we werent doing much...when you've played 7 games and in 4 of them couldnt score more than 1 offensive TD, thats bad
2) I'm wondering if Jerry Jones is thinking that Bill Parcells is a total boob for wanting to cut Jeff Robinson now...we didnt need the cap room and everyone in the world knew that playing ugly, close to the vest football is what Parcells wanted to do...if you are going to play that way you damn well better have good special teams and a good kicking game, and we dont...the snappers have been lousy all season, and the kicker is pretty much just as lousy
3) hard for me to get mad at Bledsoe, but he did play a pretty bad game today...had Witten all alone for an easy TD on that goalline play that he was bound and determined to run on, and made a Quincy Carter-esque type throw on that last pick...still, he doesnt call the plays, which leads me to:
4) horrendous, awful freaking offensive play calling today, and this is becoming a trend..and Parcells deserves egg on his face for trying to win that game after the Petitti holding call on the last drive...just freaking go to OT meathead
5) well what else is new, game on the line...81 yds away...Cowboys give up an almost uncontested 81 yd drive for a TD, SSDD with this crew...memo to people who think we have a good defense-- GOOD DEFENSES DONT CONSTANTLY MELT DOWN WITH THE GAME ON THE LINE...dont give me "but we shut them down for 58 minutes" crap either...when your on the field with the game on the line, good defenses win the game...bad defenses give up TD's
6) the officiating was terrible, but had this team done a couple of simple things it wouldnt have mattered...our kicker cant make a 29yd fg, but their guy can make two 50+ yarders?...the one call I would really hammer the league office with was the b/s Witten thing in the endzone, because it was illegal contact, it was flagged, and if its past 5 yds its not something that should be able to be changed if the flag is thrown...it probably affected the outcome of the game, and afterall the refs didnt have any trouble flagging Aaron Glenn for a kind of lame PI call instead of letting that go (and on the same play flagged Anthony Henry for a 15yd facemask call, when it wasnt a personal foul variety)
7) the OL needs to be blown up bigtime...Rivera has been been pretty terrible all yr and clearly wasnt worth the investment...Petetti is a favortite on this forum, but he has been pretty awful the past two games...I can understand struggling against Strahan, but this Bryce Fischer bum?...Al Johnson is a bust, period. This OL isnt getting better, its getting worse...
will be interesting to see how they play next week, but this has to be pretty draining for the team...they were poorly coached today and couldnt put another team away when they were basically begging to be blown out...we're the only team the Niners have looked like an NFL team againstand we've pulled defeat from the jaws of victory in two other games and now have sole possession of last place in the NFC East
