Some people have a problem with the unknown and have to fill it in to be comfortable with it. Even if it's worse than the eventual outcome, knowing is better than not knowing.
New DC and a bunch of new players, more than I think we anticipated with 8, with what was the worst defense in Cowboys history and in the worst possible category, run defense.
People will want to make predictions on players and the season based on what they probably think will happen but when the probable comes into play, the possible takes a backseat.
It is possible that the Cowboys end up with a losing record and no better than 3rd in the lowly East division and also possible that this draft doesn't work at beginning to fix the defense.
But it is also possible that the Cowboys win the East and get past the division round for the first time in 25 years and not only does this draft class work out but one becomes the DRoY and the Cowboys put a couple of defensive players in the pro bowl.
I like the unknown because it keeps the possible possible and it also adds some intrigue and mystery to the season. Anyone here pick the Cowboys to have the best record in the NFC in 2016 with the 3rd string 4th round rookie QB? Didn't think so.
The way I see it is this can go either way or right down the middle. New DC with some new players is a real unknown, he's an unknown with the players from 2020 but I see the possibilities.
So, don't be so quick to fill in the unknown and if you find yourself in a negative lean, ask yourself how you got there, do you enjoy being there and what is the real reward for that? You were right? Does that really feel that good?
The unknown is just full of possibilities and the beauty is to let them unfold. You don't have to be negative or positive, you can be in that sweet spot where I am, I don't know enough to even have a feel for what's going to happen so my expectations do not exist. I will know when I know.
Embracing the unknown always gives you the opportunity to change your opinion. The unknown fosters an open mind.
