It's one game but was utterly disappointing

Let's start with Parker and the defense. Look, we have talent shortcomings for sure. But what I was hoping/expecting was seeing a defense that at least looked like they knew what they were doing but being exposed for their talent deficiencies. That's not what we got last night. We got a defense that looked confused at times, had numerous breakdowns, a DC that refused to adjust to what the Giants were doing. I mean, in the 2nd half, the Giants ran basically the same RB dump off 3 times in one drive and every time, we didn't have a defender within 10 yards of him. If we had lost because we just physically couldn't stand up to them from a talent perspective, OK. But show me that we have a coordinator that understands what he's doing, and has the team understanding what he wants to do. We got neither last night.

And that brings us to Schotty. Didn't like the game plan at all. But the issue I have is with that 4th and inches. Punting there was such a conservative, tone setting screw up. I see people trying to defend it and say, oh if you don't get it, the Giants have great field position. Oh and the team and crowd will be really fired up. Guess what? You fired up the fans and the Giants when you said, "Gee, we can't get 12 inches so we better punt..............." You signaled right there you were afraid of the Giants.

This Giants team has flaws for sure and some real talent issues. But you saw the impact of coaching in one game. The Giants came out prepared, aggressive, fired up to play - which directly stems from their HC. Conversely, look at how we can out and look at how conservative we went early, which reflects this coaching staff.

Just an all out disappointing evening. It's not even that we lost. We can't keep beating the Giants every game. It's how and why we lost. That's what doesn't sit well with me.

yeah, without even being overly hyped, i WAS curious, and this game was a huge disappointment. I just wanted to see signs of life, building blocks, and encouraging things. i did not.

They shot a warning shot across our bow right from the start when Schotty thought it was too tough to get 12 inches against a Giants team that couldn't stop the run last year and traded away their stud DT.

Odds are you get that first down and suddenly some of the excitement and juice from the Giants and crowd is sucked out of Met Life. Instead, you just cratered and punted and gave the Giants more momentum after a three and out to start the game.

Just poor coaching.

It old the Giants that you do not think they are good enough to bother taking any risks with and by the time the Cowboys realized they had to actually take some risks, the Giants offense solved the Cowboys defense and chained together TD drives again and again killing the clock in the second half.

If you don't respect the Giants, you go for it there because you don't think they'll be able to score a TD with great field position.

By punting when you only needed 12 inches was a sign you were afraid to give the Giants the ball on yours side of the field.

my son is an nba fan, never cared much about football. he watched with me last night, not knowing much about the game or the rules, and he said "how come they didn't just try since they were so close?" lol. i don't know if it was gutless, or arrogance, but it's crazy just how much things avalanched from there

Yep.
And it was very early in the game. Even if they didn't make it it would have been okay.
