we played poorly across the board.
parcells was flat outcoached by his pupil
some noname fullback ate our lunch
all season long we don't cover the short middle, payton knew this and stayed there
it's true - 10,000,000 milk cartons are now in production looking for a cowboys pass rush
we need a left footed kicker not to actually make kicks, heavin forbid - but at least let's miss it to the left for awhile.
our OL took a vandy (mental holiday)
our safety's simply refuse to cover anyone. ANYONE.
and worst of all - romo was uncharacteristically "human".
we knew the day romo-mania fell would come. we hoped for next year maybe as the fairy tale was kinda fun and hey - we had positive attention on the cowboys for a change. parcells was about the lone ranger in the sports world saying there's a lot of things tony still needs to work on and he was busy trying to keep romo from getting hit.
he got hit (a LOT) sunday against the saints. but he wasn't alone. franky, though, he needed this. he needs to know that it's constant work in the nfl and he can't ever take a vandy (mental holiday) if he wants to be an aikman, staubauch, elway, marino - any of the greats.
it's hard to keep in mind that this is still romo's what - 6th, 7th game *OF HIS CAREER*. he'll be fine. you can't start a young guy and not go through mistakes in which they learn. hey, we're still ahead of the curve with romo and we'll get to see how romo reacts when it's not easy.
when he has to work for his praise.
to date it's come too easy and we all got caught up in it cause that's what we do. but we did it for a reason and the reason is because we got something here in romo and 1 bad game doesn't diminsh the hopes we have for him. not hardly. to be honest it only opens up the opportunity to see if he's as good as we hope.
can he bounce back and does that "short term memory" work after such a beating "team wide". (and rest assured, this is a team loss, not a player one).
the team lost this one. romo's "lucky breaks" we've seen him get away with caught up with him and he NEEDS TO REALIZE that just because he threw it, it's not magically goint to hit his own guy *every time* and to be smarter about the chances he takes.
that's all.
but this is one of those things you learn on the field, not holding a clipboard being "all that" at least in your mind. but still, take away this "one game" and he's still "all that" and i'd still not trade him for even the #1 pick in the next draft. we've got something here and this is one of those days we just have to get through.
is it any "real" wonder that the man who coached romo for the last 3 years knew just how to get to him? and no, this is not a "blueprint to beat romo". while the drama that falls off that terminology is cool and all, it's still drama. keep it, please.
the cowboys had a bad day, but it's still just one game.
we're still leading our division and we're still a legit top team in the NFL. i don't think we can say we're definately a top team but we're in that group again and that alone feels fantastic and i don't want to lose sight of our success because of one game.
not when 1 game our way turns it all around again.
we got our tails handed to us, yes we did. but we're still in control of our destiny late in the season and i'm gonna enjoy it regardless of how much that last game hurt.
the news is still brighter for this team than it has been in a decade and romo has so much to do with all that and i'm gonna keep the big picture in mind while i see so many see way too much in just one game.
