Really like him last year -- had high hopes for him in 2014. Was looking over the pre-season roster and noticed his name -- frankly I had forgotten all about him and his career ending injury which is a shame.

I'm sure that man is bumming quite a bit right now.

Any idea if he's been on the sideline or anything like that?

I was high on him. Thought he could be a good nickel LB as he gained experience. Had the makings of a good draft pick given he was going to contribute defensively in some capacity for a few years as a 6th rounder. Tough break for him. We're really fortunate Hitchens can play given the injuries to both Holloman and Lee before the season even started.

Yes, I thought he could have developed into an elite coverage LB to play in the Nickel. I think Hitchens is a better all around LB, but Holloman would have been a really good coverage guy.

Cowboys LBs have had a rough of it the last few years with all these players suffering major injuries:

Sean Lee (wrist, toe, neck, knee)
Bruce Carter (elbow)
Holloman (neck)
Durant (biceps, hamstring)

Of course, RoMac has been nicked up a bit all-year but not as serious as those guys. Ditto for Bruce Carter this year.

Yeah he was on his way to being a starter eventually. Oh well, if Marinelli is the King of DLine Development then Eberflus is the King of LB Development

He was on his way here in Dallas. I was a fan of his coming out of S. Carolina. Always around the ball it seemed. Very unfortunate.

Hope whatever he chooses to do in life, that he does it well. All the best DeVonte!

sad really, i've watched him play on every level. Played a highschool game aganist him once that he single handed took over himself. Was a fan because of the local connection.

He would've provided good depth. Which we need with all the injuries we've had at LB

Would have been the ideal nickle LB/ blitz specialist, but I'd pick walking over football too.

Last I heard, DeVonte Holloman returned to South Carolina and joined the coaching staff.

Following a neck injury that ended his NFL career, Holloman, a South Carolina letterman from 2009-12, has agreed to join the Gamecocks’ coaching staff as a video assistant. Because the academic semester has already begun at USC, Holloman can’t be a graduate assistant coach; he will help with video this semester and enroll in spring.

“He’ll be part of the staff,” defensive coordinator Lorenzo Ward confirmed. “He’ll start out, because he can’t get in grad school as we speak, it’s too late to get in, but he’ll (be) helping the video department and in the spring, he’ll hopefully get into grad school and be a GA here.”

I hate to admit that I had forgotten about him until this thread. Nothing worst than a dream lost. Nice to hear he's still around football. Maybe he will find a niche in coaching. I wish him well.
