there is so much negativity on the Board (including some of mine).

I guess the realization is that while we're going to the Playoffs, there are going to have to be (significant) changes this off-season if we want to actually compete for a Super Bowl.

From what JJ said yesterday, it seems he's also come to the same conclusion. I hope this is the case.

This current team just isn't producing in "must win" divisional games, esp. on defense.

If there aren't changes made on the coaching staff and players this off-season, I'm going to be disappointed and surprised.

I guess I'm a bit concerned that JJ may "retract" some of the comments he made last evening and we stick to the status quo for another season. I just hope we don't end up prolonging the obvious . . . .

Remember after the Atlanta win? You'd think we had lost the game.

I think people just expected a "special" team that would dominate everyone they played. Maybe we should have been. We're certainly underarchieving and we're still probably going to be 10-6 and going to the playoffs.

Who knows. We have all the pieces in place to make a run in the playoffs. This defense, when it has its head on straight, can be one of the best in the league and we all know this offense is one of the best in the league.

The biggest difference is that in years past 92' 93', we went in as SB contenders, not just making a casual appearance,,, this team is not even close to being worthy of a contender label,,, more like pretenders.

But after listening to/reading JJ's message after yesterday's game, didn't it seem like he was exhausted with this team, from top to bottom?

To me, at least, it appeared that there need to be changes made somewhere to take this team to the next level.

I am assuming the changes would pertain to the defensive side of the ball (at the minimum).

The offense has been playing well consistently, except for the last night's game (go figure).

Even the Special Teams has been playing pretty well. On kick returns we're going well, we're covering well, and Gramatica has been kicking FGs better than many expected - and he's coverted on 2 key ones (Giants and Atlanta).

The problem lies on Defense, after considering the amount of money that has been spent on upgrading the talent in FA as well as via top draft picks.

I'm relieved that Dallas is back in the postseason, yet I have come to the realization that this team is not really good enough to go that far in the playoffs.

I still keep that "anything can happen" attitude because it's true, this is the playoffs and anything can happen.

But Dallas has to have alot to "happen" to be successful, imo.

I was actually impressed... we overcame 1st half adversity and only gave up 7 points in entire 2nd half. I had thought we turned the corner in some regards.

It's because we are so close, yet so far away. I am happy we are returning to the playoffs, however, I don't think we will last along. That being said we all must be happy with finding Romo. I believe with the state of the NFL, we only need a little tweeking here and there to be right at the top.

It is weird and the NFL is a weird place. The Eagles start 4-1 and look like the team to beat, only to start playing like crap and lose 5 of the next six with McNabb. Garcia comes in and they get a fortunate win at Caroliona and their season is completely turned around.

The NYG start 6-2 and look to have a lock on the division, only to have injuries plaque them and start a slide that even returning players cannot correct and they look like crap.

Dallas starts 3-3 and have to go to Romo, only to go 5-1 the next six and look like the team to beat in the NFC, only to fall completely apart.

Who makes the last run?

there is so much negativity because most fans here realize that if we play like this in the playoffs we are gonna lose in the 1st round. Also doesnt help that these butt-whoopings have come against playoff teams so its hard to be positive when those teams are dominating your team...

You hit the nail on the head. This shouldn't be Mission Impossible.

With Romo at the helm, that's half the battle.

Our Offense and Special Teams is good enough. We can easily upgrade Rivera via FA and add one more young WR to the mix via the Draft.

I think we need a new DC and add one more pressure player opposite Ware and a decent FS.

After watching the steady deterioration of our defense over the last month and how its inabilities has begun to infect our offense, I have prepared myself for a short stay in the playoffs.

I thought this year we stood a very good chance of making a deep playoff run. But I see that is not going to be the case.

I knew the loss of Ellis was bad.......now we see just how bad.

The NFL does not have a team anywhere close to the '92 or '93 Cowboys. Every team in the playoffs has holes. If that is your standard, you will be disappointed every year.

Umm, no doubt,,, the original topic was about the overall feel of making the playoffs... the general concensus is that Cowboys nation is happy we are in, but doubtfull this team can progress.

OH BLAH, blah, blah, blah, hooey..hooey..hooey...bring out the dang Hankees!

Such drama. Curtain Calls...Swan dives....This is ridiculous...What are you? Men or Mice? Women or Women?

Here's how it's going to go down....The Eagles will do their annual swan dive in the post-season...I know that, you know that, the Eagle fans know that. Garcia???? Yeah right....He's skirting on a bunch of intangibles.....One of them being a team that ate the damn cheese, decided to celebrate Christmas instead of play the game. So did the coaches...Didn't Parcells give them an extra day off? Good call there. I have every confidence the Eagles will duplicate on Sunday what the Cowboys did on Monday, and get the crap beaten out of them by Atlanta....

So we're in the playoffs, winners of the East or not, who cares? That doesn't guarantee you a super bowl berth as the Eagles can tell you.... over and over. What we do know is, if you can't win on the road, it's ever so much harder to WIN the Super Bowl, case closed. Cowboys oddly enough, can win on the road. Romo does much better on the road. What's the quality of the cheese like in Dallas? Must be dang good.

As far as JJ talking out of the side of his mouth again, well, shut up Mr. Jones. Love dem Cowboys, and let the loss go...THE COWBOYS ARE IN THE PLAYOFFS....After the season's over then fire Zimmer....or whoever....

TO...TO..TO...needs to GO...GO...GO...When you hurt the Cowboys, we're no longer best friends....Critical drops at critical junctures, puts you on life support as far as I'm concerned. Sorry...Love your stats, but this ain't workin' with the drops thing.

Face it. If the Cowboys hadn't lost Monday, they'd've managed to lose to Detroit. Dallas is a young team...still has kinks to work out, but I'll take these boys any ole day over any ole team in the N.F.L.....This is a week in and week out kinda league. Commanders can beat the Saints on a Sunday, and The Cowboys can do a great impression of the walking dead on a Monday.....Yuk, Yuk, Yuk, this is the NFL.

And finally, yes Zimmer just doesn't do it for me. He'll do well somewhere, but it ain't workin' in Dallas with Parcells.

I have some advice for the lovelorn. This is a game. Not, this is your life. Get that straightened out, and let's hear no more talk of I'm leaving, good bye, good riddance, farewell...I was over the Eagle game the minute it ended. I have better things to do than grieve.

Like write. Of course this entire week, the Philadelphia Eagles are the featured team on my blogroll. They bumped the Cowboys off, but hopefully Dallas will be up there next week, and the next week, until finally, the 2007 Dallas Cowboys SuperBowl Champions is headlined on my Blog Title.

Win or lose...Thems my boys....!!!

You could make an argument that the Chargers are that team.

We are going to the playoffs, yes. However, 3 weeks ago we were supposedly the best team in the conference and on the verge of a 12-4 year that included ending the year on an 8 game win streak and running away with the #2 seed.

Now, we've lost two straight big home games in December and are going to limp into the playoffs at 10-6 (at best)

The '92 Cowboys would crush any team in football this year, including the Chargers. The '92 Bills would easily be the best team in football this year and look what we did to them.
