It's Your Pick at 24

With 24th pick in the NFL draft the Dallas Cowboys select Treylon Burks out of the University of Arkansas
It’ll be this.

IMO, it’s going to be
-Burks, Green or Johnson. Johnson likely goes to NE and Burks could go to Green Bay. But those are the 3 I expect to be there and one will be our pick

Tyler Smith.

Penning is also raw and can't move to OG.

Smith can play OG as a rookie. Moving inside resolves many of his issues at LT. Then he is an option to move to LT in a year or two once he has had real coaching instead of a grad assistant OL coach.

We'd need to trade down if taking Smith. Both Brugler and Zierlein view him as developmental and is possibly better suited to Guard due to pass protection concerns..... drafting a player that's ostensibly a developmental player in a position of lesser positional value is a gamble ....especially at 24. In that instance may as well take the player that's shown he can play Guard.

I think Smith is more of a project due to his school and lack of OL coaching.

Had he went to Alabama or Georgia he wouldn’t be as much of a project IMO

Yep....and if he'd played Guard, which Brugler and Zierlein appear to think will better suit his talents.

Green. Walk in starter at LG, plus a good tackle in his own right. They talk about position versatility; that's Green.

In that scenario, the best player for right now and for the future of the the team, is Penning.
Green at LG is who we need, right now. But his knee concerns are just that, concerns. And IMO, a good OG can be found in rds 2-5 this year. Smith may end up being a great pick for the future, but he isn't that right now.
Penning can start at OT day 1 and for 10 years.

I saw a mock on an NFL website had Dallas trading up with Patriots to grab Trevor Penning . Giving up a 4th and one of the 5th rounders to move up . Not sure I like that scenario when at 24 a very good Oline should still be sitting in the green room ready to meet Roger Goodfella. Dallas needs that 4th .

And he wouldn’t be there at 24

That’s just stupid. You aren’t moving pieces to grab a tackle that early.

The media forgets Dallas is high on Steele. Whoever they draft is going to play LG for a few seasons. So why not draft somebody who is a legit guard

Agree . Kenyon Green my choice and at 24 I think him or Zion Johnson are the choices .

If we go Linderbaum don’t think Biadez plays any other position and Faniok is a back up center candidate . Trade one . Probably won’t get much in return .

Biadez just isn't good enough. Linderbaum is on the Travis Frederick level and might be stronger, but he can also play G. The interior of line has to get better.

If Penning is at #24, he'd be the pick unless something really unexpected occurs like Davis dropping.

Agreed. I'm not trusting our current staff to coach him up, especially at OL. Wouldn't take him until the 2nd.

No other team wants to move up.
Zion is gone.
Tyler Smith, Kenyon Green and Trevor Penning are there.
Who you taking?
Or are you going another direction and hoping to find the starting LG somewhere else?
Best oline player available or trade back for extra picks
