Iupati being targeted by the Raiders

Corrected. He's a guard. I already know we have our two starting tackles. Either way, I think we can find a good lineman later in the draft. JMO. I wouldn't be opposed to drafting a corner back or even an inside linebacker... just someone who makes plays.

What does that even mean? Protecting Romo for more than a second isnt making a play?

So Iupati is the only one who can protect Romo for more than a second? Is that what that means?

last week Al had thing for McClain. That didnt last long.

Good. I don't want to reach for an OT in the first round. We need an impact player.

Hes one of the best in the draft.

I want some speed in the slot and in the return unit as well but a good OL would make an impact too.

He was pissed that got leaked, so this is all a smoke screen. :)

That's who I thought he had real interest in as well (as of a couple days ago).

Michael Smith nailed it. That was awesome.

Of course, he kind of missed out on the small nostril flare that Kiper seems to do after giving his rant.

Iupati at 8 would shake things up..........

Always count on the Raiders to do something stupid.

When's the last time a guard was drafted in the top 10?
well Robert Gallery was #2 overall...and he has been a guard since day 1.

Leonard Davis was drafted to play T....played tackle for a few years to justify the investment.. .he was #2 overall...but MORE importantly, we paid him like a LT, which I guess we had to, but I never agreed with that. And to be quite honest, I am not all that impressed. He is certainly not Larry Allen. But I said it time and time again last year...never have I ever seen a man that big and powerful make contact while on the move...and wind up on the ground. Then I listend to Nate one day on the radio, and he said Davis lunges to much. He needs to take one more step, get into his man and put him on the ground. Watch him closely this year when he is pulling....I mean I have seen the guy make contact with a DB and the DB makes the tackle because Davis lunges, distracts the guy for a second....the Davis falls, and the guy eventually makes the tackle.

Big Mike Williams from Texas was #4 overall and he is/will play tackle for the Commanders.

So I agree a guard should NEVER go that high, but when you draft a T and miss...often this is where they wind up.

Robert Gallery was drafted in 2004. That season he started 15 games at Right Tackle. In 2005 he started all 16 games at Right Tackle. In 2006 he was moved to Left Tackle and started 10 games before being put in IR.

He was moved to Left Guard at the start of 2007. That is 41 games at Tackle, before ever playing 1 game at Guard. He has still only played 38 games at Guard.

He was NOT a Guard since day 1.

1997, Chris Naeole to the Saints at #10.
Robert Gallery. lol late....obviously he was transformed. But it's the Raiders. he was a can't miss tackle, now he's a guard.

Re: Gallery. You probably shouldnt draft a guy #2 if he looks like he should be in a Rob Zombie movie

It is possible and Al Davis does not care, if he wants a player he will get that player regardless of the reach.

my bad...I will take your word for it...but much like Leonard Davis...Gallery was probably played at T to justify the investment. Neither Gallery, Davis or Mike Williams are T at this level...or at least not T worthy of the top 5 picks that was used on them.

Iupati is more than just a guard guys. He is very versatile and many scouts believe he could easily transition to LT.

Think of the value there if he could. A guy who can play both guard and LT at a high level? Thats a dream for most coaches.

Hard to believe a OG is worthy of a top 10 pick....he and his agent must be happy.

On a related note, other than the Raiders, not many teams on mock drafts are predicted to take Brucey Campbell in the top half of the first round. Might he slide to us at #27? He is among the 23 players on JJ's board rated first round players?

No friggin' way the Raider do this.

No way someone would draft Heyward-Bey in the the top 10

We are talking about Al Freakin Davis

No one ever drafts kickers with 1st round picks oh wait unless you are the Raiders

So with the Raiders yes they would
