Apparently there are only 26 top quality players available in this draft because no one "will fall to pick 27".

I know right.

I think it's a coping mechanism to trick yourself into not getting disappointed.

Getting disappointed is almost a guarantee at some point during the draft:mad:

Of course, but picks like Brewster and McGee are just not good for my health. Your just crossing the line with those kinds of picks

who cares if he's the highest G ever taken. That doesn't mean **** in their eyes. Their not taking Thomas because they re-signed Clarke, and won't take him to play CB, and I read somewhere that Tomlin isn't that high on Wilson. Iupati's basically a lock go go there.

oh ok - I trust you an your thinking - oh you read somewhere Tomlin is not that high on Wilson ok source ?

Tomlin said he's thinking about benching veteran Ike Taylor, who has been picked on constantly of late, and inserting a rookie cornerback like Joe Burnett or Keenan Lewis

And strong safety Troy Polamalu is likely out again with a knee injury and is expected to miss his fourth game in a row.

How about an offensive line that gave up 47 sacks last season and lost its best player, left guard Alan Faneca, to free agency? Tomlin said there is some concern about that unit. But, he added, "Overly concerned? No, because I trust that the men that we have are preparing themselves to be better. I like the moves that we've made thus far in the offseason in terms of fortifying that area of our team."

I read this somewhere

and what they don't draft Thomas because they might actually need him ?

and since so many guys on here predict Iupati to land in Dallas

I just feel a lot of drafts are overdrafting the guard position into the teens even. Alberts was projected as a OT even if he wasn't successful there and Joseph also had experience at OT. Iupati is a pure guard and I think he will be there at 27

really I think the Steelers will take Thomas, Wilson, Williams an John Jerry in the 2nd

Has it been completely determined that Iupati can't play RT? I like him at G, but being able to play RT would be great, especially early on if he's backing up multiple spots. A RT isn't a bad move if Free's the LT, which I'm starting to think he is. Either way, at 27 he's worth the pick even if he's just a pro-bowl talent at guard. I think it's 50-50 if he's there or not.

Steelers

LG CChris Kemoeatu 2/27/2009: Signed a five-year, $20 million contract.
RG Trai Essex 3/17/2009: Signed a two-year, $1.92 million contract

SG Kraig Urbik 2nd year

so they are going to throw out 20 mil contract out the window

because the only Position I see Iupati playing is LG

OT Willie Colon 2010: Restricted Free Agent (First-Round Tender)

they are looking for RT before a OG

The Cowboys are grooming Brewster to play RT.

I know that didn't answer your question but I felt it was relevant.

it's very likely one of the tackles falls to them, especially if bruce campbell goes to oakland

I really want to see Brewster, or rather I want to see what the staff saw in him, cause I was really surprised when we drafted him.

As bad as the Steelers O line was last year and frankly the year before. i highly doubt that they are CONFIDENT at all in their current players. Iupati could very well play RT, certainly can play OG. Its very logical they take him unless a quality LT fall to them.

I could easily see them taking a CB just as much. Supposedly they may bench Ike Taylor, they let Bryant McFadden go in free agency, and there's not much proven beihind them. I can see them taking Kyle Wilson.

I guess they could be that stupid to continue to ignore their O line problems...

OL is definitely a need for them. I guess it depends on how much they value offensive linemen in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th round. IMHO, this draft is pretty deep with offensive linemen, so maybe they feel they can get the DB they want in the 1st round, then pick up a couple linemen they value in the later rounds.

The Steelers could trade up before us, grab some value and possibly still get him. I'd be more worried about that than them picking him outright at that position.

Pretty sure Brewster ended up in a few top-100's right before the draft. I think he was in Gosselin's too, which is almost always the most accurate.
