I've decided to be positive about the playoffs

To be fair, I think he meant *we* won't win the division with 8 wins since I think we lose tiebreakers.

Unless something crazy happens I don't see the rest of the division finishing at 7-9.

It's disappointing we had to lose Tony in a year when the East is just terrible. Even 1 win in the last 7 gives us breathing room , where as of now we have to win out.

We need a miracle.

But I am not sure we definitely lose the tiebreakers. COwboys have to beat the Skins twice. That would put Dallas at 4-2 in the division.

Eagles and Giants are 2-2 themselves. Both could easily end up 3-3 in the division.

It depends on who our 1 loss comes to. It just can't be the Commanders. Right now every team in our division has 2 divisional losses. So we have to sweep the Commanders. We'll finish with a 4-2 divisional record. The eagles and Giants play each other in week 17. That works out perfectly for us because one of them automatically has to lose. The Commanders also play both the giants and eagles. So if they are able to sneak a game from even one of them, that would automatically give us the division in a tiebreaker scenario

Good stuff.

I hate the fricking Skins. (just sayin')

They have to go 6-1 at minimum, they've already lost 6 conference games with 4 more to play, so winning a tie breaker is going to be almost impossible.

That's not true. The first tiebreaker we would apply is divisional record. Long as we beat the Commanders we end with a 4-2 divisional record. If the giants/eagles lose even 1 game in the division we would win the tiebreaker scenario

i disagree, they have to go 7-0 and end up at 9-7 to make the playoffs, even then I'm not so sure they are a "lock"

What's it going to be then, eh?

I caught Adam Schefter on the local Philly station and he pointed out that the NFC East has not put the Cowboys out of their misery at this point and given Dallas a small bit of life.

Miami did us a big favor beating Philly.

We have to get to 8-8 which means only one loss the rest of the way. GB has some real issues so that game is no longer a dead loss. If we can beat Miami this weekend and then beat Carolina, we might be in very good shape.

Giants are 5-5. They still have to play:

@ Washington
Jets
@Miami
Panthers
@Vikings
Eagles

Losing at Washington would be a huge help. But the Giants own the Skins. 5 wins in a row. @ Miami could be the swing game here. That Eagles game could also be huge as it's a 1PM game. We play the Skins at 1PM as well. It's quite possible that there could be a myriad of outcomes based on the finishes in those two games so the Eagles coudl still technically be in it thus making them play hard that game.

I see the Giants splitting these games, someway, somehow. I think they can take the Jets and Dolphins, maybe Washington as well. The Vikings game should be pivotal if they too are fighting for a spot. 8-8.

Eagles are 4-5. They still have to play:

Tampa
@ Detroit
@ NE
Bills
Arizona
Commanders
@ Giants

It would be a great favor here if the Bucs could knock off Philly this weekend. Unlikely but suddenly Detroit isn't a lock. That's a short week road game for Sanchez. NE and Arizona are looking like sure losses. So they have to find another game to lose to end at 8-8.

I see them going 7-9, beating Tampa, Detroit, Buffalo.
The Skins are easier to look at here. We play them twice and likely have to beat them twice. That gives them 7 losses and with the rest of their schedule they will easily get their 8th loss.

All boils down to running the table. It is really too hard to imagine other what ifs.

So you think the eagles and Giants both only lose 1 more game? Interesting

I'm pulling for WSH to beat both NYG n PHI. If so and we handle our business it will set up a do or die in wk 17.

Definitely!! No one wants to see a Romo led Cowboys squad. The America's Game would be 2 hours long. Lol

Would love to see the wheels completely fall off for the Giants and Eagles and both go on losing streaks while we go on a winning streak. It seems like it never works out that way so for once I would like to see the unthinkable happen.

It may feel like it never happens, but just last year the Giants closed out their season 3-8, the Eagles 3-4 (1-3 in December), and the Cowboys 6-1.

In fact, if you want ammo for the plausibility of playoffs, consider what would happen if each team finished the season with the same wins and losses they had for the close of 2014:
Cowboys now 2-7 (last 7 games last year 6-1) = 8-8
Giants now 5-5 (last six games last year 3-3) = 8-8
Eagles now 4-5 (last 7 games last year 3-4) = 7-9

Likely? Probably not. Unthinkable? Not at all.

We need a miracle that's probably not going to happen. But it'll be fun to see them try with Tony back on board.

Right now, I'm just hoping we get past MIA somehow so that I have something to root for still on Thanksgiving.

Why not be positive?

What's to gain by not being positive?

Are there prizes given out for having negative expectations play out to be true?

It's just sports. The perfect place to abandon reality and put your heart alone into it.
