I've forgotten about Marion Barber

I've given him my fair share of grief, but I still love the guy

here's why:

if Barber could run it inside, and THEN cut it outside, and run like he does, he can go back to being the Barbarian

I agree completely. He got too cute this past year trying to bounce everything outside. That's not his style. He needs to go between the tackles and get the yards that are there. I think that is a main contribution as to why he had a career low in YPC. He tried to get too cute instead of just taking what was there.

He's my favorite Cowboy though. Actually, I dont even know. Its so hard between him, Romo, Witten and Ware. All class acts, and great players. But Barber is the only player who's jersey I own.

Like Aikman said, that is absolutely terrible defense. Bad angles and terrible tackling.

That is a good instance where he bounced it and def. had success.

It needs to be:

Choice opening with Barber closing... and Felix throughout sprinkled in.

Go with the hot hand, keep the tempo up and run teams into the ground.

If we actually become more of a running team, I hope we draft a top FB this year. Or an H-Back type who is tough, physical to add to the mix.

We are going to see a different Barber this year or he's gonna get demoted. He needs to run fwd for positive yards just like you said. I would start Choice if I called the shots...

I may be incorrect but it seemed to me that the only time MB3 going to the outside worked well was when they ran the power toss repeatedly that one game...i want to say the 2nd time we played washington...can't remember...but it worked well.

But in between the tackles should his moneymaker again.

On the nosey.

Choice has enough elusiveness to gain yardage at the beginning of a game when the defense is still fresh BUT he can also deliver a pop.

Barber, when a defense is a bit tired, is unstoppable.

And Jones throughout the game...

If this teams decides to be more run oriented, they're gonna be tough.

a lot of those runs were on the edges....

that was before teams figured out to stop Barber, go for his legs

that outside stuff doesn't work anymore

I was thinking this last night. Bleu Star had posted links to the GB and AZ game so we could watch TO play, and all I could think about was what an impact player Barber was when he was in the lineup. He's a sparkplug for everybody when he's in there.

I might be very wrong but I suspect Barber will still start and probably should. But I hope they mix it up well with all three. I'd love to see Felix on the field more than the rest but I'd use him in the passing game at least half his snaps. I'd like to see TC/MB and Felix on the field together. I think there are a lot of options there to keep defenses guessing on 1st and 2nd down.

He is still the Barbarian.

100% healthy and the O-line blocking as they should and he will return to the player we all love.

MBIII was the 3rd best back on the team last year. Choice and Jones were just better.

This is a myth that's going to snowball in the offseason, isn't it? We're just lucky to have 3 good options.

It's a myth only to the fans who are still wowed by Barber's '07 highlights. The pro wrestling crowd who thinks he's an elite player.

Choice and Jones had no problems running behind the same line that Barber couldn't. And Choice did it against the best defenses in football.

Who wasn't wowed by his '07 highlights? He was awesome in '07.

Let's not pretend that teams were preparing for Choice in the lineup the same way they prepared for Barber--especially with Romo out for three games. It's not just running behind the same OL.

I was on the T Choice bandwagon early--back when most of the board thought he was a scrub. That doesn't mean that he's a better back than Marion Barber. Felix has a chance to be, if he can stay healthy and produce like he did this year.

In any event, none of them are elite backs in my book. But at least Barber's close.

If this team adopts more of a run first style of offense, they'll win some playoff games. Pass first teams do not consistently win anywhere.

I still love our beast. The dude is a monster, shame on you for forgetting him
