the cowboys were able to make deals with smith and freddy that were to the cowboys overall benefit. seems martin is having none of that. he is expecting to be paid in the 12 million a year range. basically, what the best guard in the nfl will be paid. no doubt lots of guaranteed money will be needed. signing martin will be problematic at best. at some point the fo will have to put its cards on the table and ask his agent if the deal will be enough. if not, do a belichick and trade him for value to someone willing to pay him. hate to see him go, but signing him won't be easy.

no. I wouldn't be a fan of weakening two positions for the sake of one. I am not as big a fan of position flex as rod marinelli. it's fine in the bedroom, but hasn't produced dividends on the field.

Garrett loves to say position flex. Never mind if the player can’t play any position let alone several. It really is amazing. They may have ruined Green with that nonsense. Jones as well. I agree with you 100 pct. novel approach - draft Ts to play T and Gs to play G. Maybe have 1 or 2 guys that can sub in elsewhere. Martin is one of the best at his position. Keep him there.

This^^^. Position flex only works for RB's that can play WR, and DE's that move inside to play DT.

Martin has short arms he always projected as a guard in the NFL. If Smith goes down this year I’d be more comfortable moving Collins to LT where he would probably be better that RT due to being a south paw and plugging in at RT.

Yep, if he won't work with us start the plans to move on. Of course you can also franchise him to buy a little more time.

I'm sure Martin could manage at OT but his wingspan is smaller than most or all NFL OTs.

He has the perfect build to play Guard.

I'm with you on that Carter. No way would I use Martin as a swing tackle. They need to draft a good swing tackle or pick one up in FA, but FIX IT!!
No more of this stupid crap of trying to fill holes by creating other holes, just to avoid drafting what they need! If they don't fix that Oline this year and fix it right, they deserve to lose.

Totally agree northerncowboynation! There is NO excuse for the Cowboys to screw around and let this Oline deteriorate! The time to fix it is this year.
I get the feeling it takes more people to screw in that light bulb than the Cowboys have available.
