He was a guy I wanted to sign all offseason. No better way to improve your interior line play than to bring in a good center. Turns out he wanted to play here. Oh well, retired now

His “short list” of dream destinations was topped by the Panthers, as he has a longstanding relationship with offensive line coach James Campen; the Cowboys, “because I feel like if you’re going to play one last year, that environment would be fun”; and the Vikings, because he cheered for them as a child and “wanted to put a bow on my childhood.” But, Tretter says, none of the seven teams that his camp contacted reciprocated his interest

Oh, so he wanted to play for the Cowboys because he thought it would be fun??? Well, ok. :muttley:

You do know that’s part of being a Cowboy right?
I guess we have fans that are completely new to following America’s Team. Y’all might not like it, but it’s been this way for 50 years!

That pretty much explains everything that’s wrong with this team. Guys don’t come here to work hard and win. They come for one last payday under the circus spotlight and results are a distant concern.

Nobody with a shred of knowledge about Tretter would suggest he's not a hard worker. Good lord.

Sure, but what does that have to do with this? Just because LT is a bigger need doesn't mean you don't focus on all of your needs. Plus I'm talking about all offseason, not just today. Today he's retired.

the fact that he doesnt have a job has nothing to do with his talent and everything to do with his role as president of the NFLPA.
not only was he encouraging players not to attend voluntary workouts in the offseason he was very active in his push to completely eliminate the offseason workout program.
right or wrong I'm sorry but thats going to keep almost every owner from giving you a new contract. May be why none of the 7 teams he applied to even called him back
If Jerry cut Cooper for refusing to get the vaccine he'll rip out the phone if Tretter calls

He's had knee issues for years also, from what I read they're better now but the last thing we need is another o-lineman on IR...

Isn't he also a high ranking member of the NFLPA?

I don't feel like Front Offices are clamoring for a guy with that status to be in their locker rooms, for better or worse.
