J Lewis and Osa contract nugget

Valid criticism here ... Cowboys should've re-upped in summer of 2024. Likely would've saved at least 15 to 30 million. I mean, it's not like he wasn't your best homegrown interior DL that you had since his rookie year. You should've known then that you could not offered to lose him. He was the classic guy that you should re-up early with
His agent wouldn’t allow that.

They know what the player is worth in UFA.

So, you would be comfortable opening up a huge hole at dtackle? Signing Osa does not stop them from signing other players.
I'd find someone else. No I haven't looked, but teams do it every year. And i don't care if osa is a little better i'd rather pay 2-3 quality players vs what they are giving osa.

They can sign quality players. Osa is a top 10 free agent.

But they won't and they'll say it's cause they signed osa. I'm actually a little surprised they are even trying to sign him but they need way more than 1 guy. OSA did nothing with micah out. Micah taking on double teams, offenses scheming away from him, etc opens things up for guys like osa to really be 1 on 1. If the money didn't matter I woudn't care what they paid him but it does especially with how stephen constructs this team.

I like him but I never saw $22.5 million on the field last season. I doubt it shows up just because he's paid like it.
He’s a very impactful player in the passing game. Pass rushing isn’t just sacks. That said I’d spend the money on a better run defending DT, and draft a DT. But that run defending DT is gonna cost about the same I’m guessing. Impactful DT’s get paid

There backs are against the wall with Odighizuwa. He is their only good DT and this is an awful FA. Yes you can draft, but that comes at a big risk and could torpedo 2025

They dont have much of a choice
Lots of DT are availible in FA if their team doesn’t sign them before. But many will because it’s a hard position to draft

Another overpaying, desperation contract because there is no other option.

The drafting of Neville Gallimore, Trysten Hill, and Villami Fehoko come back to haunt them.
Look around the league at first and second round DT picks. It’s a very hard position to draft an impactful player.

Tony Pauline hearing Osa and Milton Williams will get offers north of 20 million a year. I am not giving Osa close to that. Enjoy Las Vegas Osa.
The thing is if he walks then you have to sign a guy. You can’t gamble in the position like last year. So any DT you draft as good is gonna cost as much. Now I’d love a more impactful run defender but the cost of a good one is gonna be near the same

Thats always a problem when your star players get old and start missing games and than get let go.
Simply, that is pessimistic bias. A team is able judge decline. This isn't yet that time.
