Here are my top 5 picks at 26 if Bijon is not there:

1) Michael Mayer
2) Jaylen Hyatt
3) Trenton Simoson
4) Ocyrus Torrence
5) Jamyr Gibbs

In that order of preference.

If Bijan is there, do you think they take him? Would they trade up 5 spots for him? Just curious about your opinion.

We would be idiots to pass on him at 26

But … I wouldn’t trade up 5 for him because we can take best player available at 26 from DT, TE, RB, OG.

And, at 26, Bijan would be best player available

If he makes it to 30, we’re going to get five years of Bijan running down our throat behind the Eagles O-Line.

I don't see this front office trading up for Bijon if he's there at 21 just because there is a lot of starter value at RB in rounds 2, 3 and maybe even in Round 4.

It would be fun to get Bijon though.

Probably have to give up pur 3rd round pick to move up 5 spots and get him. Would be tempting.

Hopefully he goes to a team like Atlanta at #8.

I don't think they trade up 5 spots....well I take that back...depends on the compensation.....they for sure take him if he falls to them. No doubt in my mind.

Why do people want tight end in the 1st round? Just curious.

I think Mayer would be a great fit for us and would most likely start right away. Great catching abilities, decent speed for his size, and a great blocker. He would be great weapon to have in the redzone.

Him and Ferguson would have us set at the position for the next few years.

Not really interested in any other TE like Kincaid as a 1st rounder.

Falcons will draft the best player available for their defensive line - either edge or DT.
After using the 2021 no.4 pick on a TE (Kyle Pitts) and last year's no. 8 selection on a WR (Drake London), Atlanta must now use top picks to improve their defense.
Bijon Robinson is not in the Falcons' plans.

I guess for me I like Ferguson enough to not invest a 1st rounder into the position. Him and Hendershot. But I'm also for BPA so I get it.

Hiya Dave.

I do think, if Robinson is there at 26, there is a really good chance Dallas would pick him.

As for the possibility of the team trading up for him:

I don’t think they would. One, they hate giving up draft pick compensation, period… much less during the draft when they’ll probably have targets already picked out for their third round (or whichever round) pick that they’d have to give up for the move up.

And two, it is more and more difficult for teams to relinquish their first round pick for a RB. In the case that Bijan falls to 26, I think the team could justify that with the pick being so late in round one. Adding compensation to pick 26 in a trade-up would take away the comfort of the pick being so late. It would be multiple picks, including a first, and I just think the team probably would be unable to justify that cost at that position.

A decade or so ago, the old Jerry would have done that, but Stephen and McClay have pretty much put a stop to that kind of behavior with their picks. They are now a well drafting, BPA type of franchise, who likes to sit at their pick and take the best player that falls to them at one of their positions of need. Particularly in the first round where trades up are usually expensive. The team has positioned itself well to do that this season and I think that’s likely what they’ll do in the first.

In later rounds, when the cost for a move up is considerably less, I think they’ll do that kind of move up if the right player is there. They tried to do that a couple of years ago for CB Tyson Campbell, but the cost was a little more than they wanted to pay, so they didn’t do it. Instead, they stayed put and picked Kelvin Joseph. The error of that pick and the value they missed out on by passing on a CB they knew would be good for a CB that they thought might be good is probably a cautionary tale that will be in the back of their minds in drafts going forward. IMO, that will serve to encourage the team to go ahead and make a trade up in rounds 2-7 if a player they really like is there.

Having said all of that… I could be wrong about them not trading up for Bijan… but I don’t think that I am.

I really like Ferguson and Hendershot. I think they are going to be good going forward… particularly as a combo. Ferguson is a better blocker than Shultz, by a stretch, and is as good a receiver. Hendershot is as good as Shultz as a blocker but has a lot more potential as a receiving TE.

Together, they’ll allow the team to do a lot of things.

However, speaking for myself, I think that Kincaid is a special receiving TE. Special enough to make me pull the trigger on him in round one if the board falls right and my higher ranked targets are gone. Kincaid has some of the best hands that I’ve ever seen in a draft and can stretch the field down the seam better than anyone Dallas has had since probably Novacek… who was bigger than people think in winning those super bowls. IMO, Kincaid will be a true weapon.

For the other TE’s, I’m a lot less bullish about spending 26 on them. I want that special receiver at TE. You can always put an OL at TE if you want really good blocking. I think that Kincaid is the only special receiving TE in this draft.

I haven't looked at TE too much in round 1. What are your favorite things about Mayer?

Kincaid is the dude. He‘s a special receiving TE. Skilled route runner. Threatens all parts of the field. Phenomenal hands. And then the YAC. For a team that likes to use their TE he would be tremendous. Your preparation for this team becomes completely different with a TE like that.

Keep in mind, the Eagles have an extra 2nd round pick. They could very well use it to trade up from 30th to 24/25 if Bijan starts dropping. For that reason, a slight trade-up would not surprise me if he's their No.1 target.

Interesting yeah Kincaid I'm cool with. Even Mayer. It really just depends on what's there. I'm hoping someone drops we don't expect to drop and this front office has to make a decision. I wonder how tough the decision was for them to go Lamb over Chaisson? Over if they even liked Chaisson to begin with.
