Word out of Houston is that he might be cut due to a poor preseason.

Thoughts on picking him up? He's a speed threat, with average hands, but is also an above average kick returner.

He wont get cut.

He is to good of a kick returner and that team needs all the field positioning they can get.

The guy looked like a keeper last year, really quick and agile. I doubt they give up on him this soon.

This was coming from two of my friend's whom are Texans fans. He's had a horrible preseason and I think he got arrested during the offseason (DWI). Now the injury to the WR that got hurt during our game might change things, so who knows.

I liked him in last years draft. Small school product so he still needs some refining but I thought he was a player. Surprised that Houston would contemplate letting him go already. He was a 3rd round pick for them. I wonder if their forums dog him the way we dog Marten. :laugh2:

I did read that he caught a DWI charge in March of this year but I have no idea how it was resolved.

That would definitely surprise, if not shock, me. If they're giving up on him this soon after what he did in last year's preseason and the fact that everyone with an ounce of knowledge knows it takes at least a year or two for WRs to get acclimated to the pro game, it makes me believe that there must be a little more to this. Maybe his attitude? Anyone got knowledge on how he takes to coaching and authority in general?

No offense to you, but the fact they are Texans fans should make you question their intelligence and ability to furnish you with accurate information.

i would be interested in him, he could help us on kickoffs, that way you wouldnt have to play austin on kickoffs either;

i would want to know more about his DWI though, details

but most likely the texans wont let him go;

yet, a trade like lattimore for him or some player we have like olgesby or someone like that,

always have to keep your options open,

Don't write off Jacoby Jones
TEXANS DEPTH CHART

Jacoby Jones is hoping that his fumbling mistakes are behind him.

Jones, a second-year player from Lane College, fumbled on a punt return during the Texans' first preseason game against the Denver Broncos - and he did it again in New Orleans. He also failed to catch the two-point conversion pass from Sage Rosenfels with 2:05 remaining against Dallas.

That's three games in a row where mental mistakes (or some kind of voodoo) caused Jones to inch closer and closer to not making this team, at least that's what I was thinking.

Special teams coordinator Joe Marciano and coach Gary Kubiak haven't lost faith in him. Marciano gave the young receiver a football and insisted he doesn't ever put it down, at least until Thursday night's preseason game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It shows that Jones means a lot to this team since coaches are insistent on getting him over this speed bump in his game.

He held on to the ball tight during stretches, drills and all through Sunday's conditioning practice. He said he'll carry that ball while driving, showering, sleeping... You name the activity, he'll be clutching that football. It wasn't until this video interview that he dropped the ball, thanks to linebacker DeMeco Ryans' antics and me, since I had his attention on answering all my questions.

This seems to say that they're not giving up on him yet. Sorry...jumped the gun alittle

It would probably depend on Stanback going on IR.

That way the team could keep their roster quota of project receiver/kick returners intact.

Gee, I wonder what player you'd be referring to exactly?

:confused:

Typical Nors logic....let's get a guy (from a worse team) that has had a terrible camp, and use him to replace a guy from our team that has had a good camp. Good stuff.

If he is indeed cut (Which I don't think they will) then I'd be all for signing him.
