Jacques Reeves and Nate Jones should thank their lucky stars

for the simple fact that neither of our late round draft picks are showing anything more than practice squad material. These guys are going into their 4th year and should be showing something, but they're hanging around reminiscent of the Dewayne Goodrich's of the world. Neither is coming close to pushing 35-year old Aaron Glenn for PT.

You are so right. the cowboys inability to draft a competent corner has kept those two shmoes around too long.

thank you...clearly the organization must have felt comfortable with where we were at CB...or they would have addressed before the 7th round

Sorry to break it to you, but OLB, LT, K, RG, etc, actually needed higher priority.

You gotta love the NEW NFL, eh?

Freaking Reeves was abused more tonight than one of Vick's pit bulls:mad:

No, but a healthy Terence Newman should fix it.

my point was, neither of those guys have a shot at making the final 53 so outside of Joey Thomas making the team, Jones and Reeves dont have to worry about their spot in the final 53. At best, one of them is cut in favor of Thomas who has showed more than either of them in preseason.

Jones and Reeves can't feel secure, and best economy is to keep Ball and Brown. Quincy Butler is another unknown, but must still be limited by a hamstring pull, because I think he didn't play tonight.

Courtney could make it as a safety, Ball is going to get cut, I don't think I've ever heard his name all preseason.

Everyone is raving about Thomas and I am wondering why. He hasn't shown all that much IMO. He totally wiffed on that open field tackle tonight his coverage has been average at all preseason. I have more confidence in Reeves than any of the draft picks or Thomas. Although Thomas might push Nate Jones out the door even that is close.

It was called tonight when he gave up that TD.

By a tight end even. We need to come out of this next draft with a minimum of 2 corners on day 1.

I agree...with T-New being nicked up it is really pointing up our deficiencies in that area. Way too big of a drop off from our starting three (including Glenn) to the second tier on this team. With Glenn's age and Henry's injury history and now Newman starting to get some wear and tear CB is starting to look like an area of concern again. That Cleveland pick might be well spent on a CB if the value is there at whatever spot it turns out to be.

I think we'll also target a CB early in 2008 draft - maybe even 2.

As for this year, looks like we'll have to make do unless we get an opportunity to get depth with a conditional low draft pick. But each team needs CB depth in today's NFL . . . .

The best way to maybe deal with this deficiency this year is to get Spencer untracked and get Ellis ready to go . . . .

Well Jones did mention that he had a couple of trade offers on the table right now, fingers crossed.

That would be great if we could add depth there (at CB).

Now, if we can also get a 6th WR who can handle punt returns and actually be a weapon on STs, that would be awesome. I'm sure we'll be checking the waiver wires for this - though I though Stanbach might gave this a shot sometime. But I've only heard of him lining up to return kick-offs.

This is what we had to do last year.

I believe our Corners only had 4 Ints. As you know, our Pass Defense was horrible last year [24th ranking.]

Basically, Jones and Wade ignored the problem.

Just like how you've ignored the link below posed exclusively for your insight the past four months, eh?
