Jacquizz Rodgers Declares for NFL Draft

Jan. 10, 2011

CORVALLIS, Ore. - Oregon State University junior tailback Jacquizz Rodgers announced Monday that he will enter the 2011 NFL Draft.

"I've thought long and hard about this decision," Rodgers said. "I want to thank all of Beaver Nation for their support throughout my time here at Oregon State. Without all of that support I wouldn't be in this position."

"We all at Oregon State wish Quizz the greatest success and look forward to watching his career continue in the NFL," head coach Mike Riley said from the American Football Coaches Association convention in Dallas, Texas. "He has certainly impacted both the football team and our lives at Oregon State. He has set a tremendous example as an Oregon State football player."

Rodgers, who is one of only three running backs in Pac-10 history to earn first team All-Pac-10 honors, and is sixth in conference history in rushing.

Probably going in the 2nd round...........would love him but not that early. I may just still be suffering from McCluster lust from last year.

I don't think Rodgers is as good as McCluster. And while McCluster did some nice things this season, he wasn't a major force. He had 71 yards rushing and 209 yards receiving. His impact was on special teams as a returner. Dez Bryant was a better return guy. I would pass on Rodgers in the first 4 rounds. After that it would just depend on who Dallas has got and what they still need.

This.

Rodgers was a tremendous college running back, but what does he project as pro, a 5'7" 190 lb powerback?

I could see him being utilized in a role similiar to Danny Woodhead in NE, but then you have to ask yourself, would he be worth spending a Top 100 pick on?

Sorry, I don't want the Cowboys drafting anyone named Jacquizz.

I feel similarly. I don't want them drafting anymore guys with braids/dreadlocks.

You just cut the draft pool by a significant amount.

I'd rather draft a big, bruising RB than a scatback. Garrett wants to build a physical football team. Here's a good start.

Totally agree. I was a big McCluster fan because he repeatedly made huge plays in the best conference in the country. I don't see this guy as the same player at all.
