Mini camps should just be for mild running and gradually getting back in football shape.
Now that you mention it, the Jaguars shouldn't be holding 11 on 11 drills at this stage of the offseason. 11-on-11 drills are forbidden until Phase 3, which doesn't begin until later this month. Maybe that doesn't apply to rookies though.

Why not? Top 5 talent for a late 1st? If they're willing to trade him, I'd take him in a second. Redshirt this year and hope to recoup the value. It won't happen, but I'd be more than willing to take the risk.

Thats not true. Only limitations for rookie minicamps per CBA are

Section 5. Contact: There will be no contact work (e.g., “live” blocking, tackling, pass
rushing, bump-and-run) or use of pads (helmets permitted) at minicamps.

Section 7. Rookie Football Development Programs and Minicamps: Each Club
may hold a Rookie football development program for a period of seven weeks, com-
mencing on or about May 16. During this period, no mandatory or voluntary activities
can be held on weekends, with the exception of the Club’s one post-Draft Rookie Mini-
camp, which at the Club’s election may be conducted on either the first or second
weekend following the College Draft. Players may only participate in Club activities for a
maximum of ten hours per day.

You're going to trade a 1st round piick for a Top 5 talent, who just blew out his ACL, and hasn't even played a down of NFL football yet? Even if the Jags were stupid enough to give up on a player after a week, we would be stupid to trade for an injured player, in hopes that not only the ACL tear doesn't hurt his future, but that he's even able to become a All pro player. It would be a stupid trade all the way around

Title should read: "dante-fowler-possible-season-ending-injury-jones/gregory/collins-one-step-closer-to-co-rookies-of-the-year."

or "this is why the Cowboys didn't draft this guy"

OK thanks for the clarification. I wasn't sure if rookies had the same standard. I think I read one of the reports that the other guys were guys trying to make the team (or practice squad) and not actual roster players.

This is a horrible break. Reminds me a lot of Sean Lee at this time last year.

It's awful. Probably the happiest week of his life and as soon as he hits the field boom. I really hope Jax is classy enough to actually negotiate in good faith. The players sign a waiver and the team is supposed to negotiate as the same way if he gets hurt so hopefully its not an issue.

know this doesn't quite fit here since he's a Jag but wow, thought he was probably the second best player in this draft already probably lost for the season, expected to miss the 2015 season

I hope so too. I think he will benefit from the new "slotted" salaries that 1st round draft picks get. His salary is pretty much pre-determined so there isn't much to actually negotiate.
