Jags making a push for Murray?

Big money may not be there for DeMarco Murray

The Cowboys believe that running back DeMarco Murray’s franchise-record season had more to do with the men doing the blocking than the man carrying. Other teams may be feeling the same way.

Through two days of a negotiating-period-gone-bonkers, news has been scarce on Murray. A suggestion that the Jaguars may make a major push for Murray doesn’t mesh with the team’s strategy for spending. The Raiders, who have money to burn but fewer and fewer folks on which to burn it, could decide to go all in on Murray, but there’s been no word of it yet.

Then there’s the lingering perception that Murray ultimately will take his best offer back to Dallas, and that they’ll match it or come close to it.

Add it all up, and it could be that Murray won’t be getting $8 million or more per year, from the Cowboys or anyone else.

Unless the Raiders can’t ultimately find someone else on which to splurge.

Posted by Florio, all I need to know.

Swallow your pride and take less money to play for a contender. Especially if the Generics are your highest bidder.

Had a feeling this would be the case. lol @ those who said he would break the bank. I thought Indy would make a run tho.

I say he's 4.5 million a year back.

:facepalm:If he doesn't accept 4 million you really thing he's going to take 4.5?

Despite JJ free-spending perception, he's always seemed to low ball his straw that stirs the drink running back. Go fig.

I don't blame him if he takes the money and runs...

Neither do I. It's a game of finite working years and as a running back you better get that big contract while you can.

This is his career-making contract. If he doesn't take huge money now he won't ever get it.

"hey demarco, be a team player, keep playing for a team that appreciates you so much that they want you to take a low ball offer...swallow your pride! How much money does one man need!!"

Lmao...do you guys listen to yourselves?

You don't sound intelligent, I can assure you that much

To they point where they may have trouble reaching the cap floor if they continue losing out on FA's. They may have to overpay Murray by default.

It is my understanding they need to be at 89% over a 4 year period starting in 2013 or something. They dont HAVE to get there this year.

I was being slightly facetious, but the point is they are more motivated to spend than save.

The NFL salary cap floor applies to the four-year period running from 2013 through the 2016 season. Every NFL team must spend 89% of the salary cap cumulatively over those season.

And it's cash spent, not cap dollars. A few large signing bonuses can get a team over the threshold.

Dallas is actually under right now at 84-85%

Yahoo's Charles Robinson reports the Jaguars "could push hard" to push free agent DeMarco Murray out of the Cowboys' price range.

Robinson reports the Jags are seeking a "centerpiece" back. Jax is awash in cap space, and would win a bidding war with Dallas if Murray pursues top dollar.

Let them make a run..

If the latest actions around the NFL are any indications..

these big name stars like Kap and Curler and Gore and Trent Cole and Trent Richardson highlite..

teams have low tolerance and high expectations for their stars winning or not winning Championships.

don't win and you and your contract is gone.

DeMarco needs to pay attention.

He needs to stay in Dallas where he has the best chance to win

and stay healthy long enough to collect his next contract.

If things continue to improve with the Cowboys..

the opportunities for endorsements and millions to be had off the field will exponentially increase..

that ain"t happening in Jacksonville..
