I just jailbroke my iphone 3gs with blackra1n, and it works fine and everything, but if I turn it off, when I try to turn it back on, it says it has to be plugged into iTunes, and if I don't, it wont start up.

Does anyone know what the issue is, and what I need to do?

you are going to have to reset the phone you cant turn it off once it is broke and you also cant sync to itunes once it is broke youll lose everything and be back to regular iphone and have to jailbreak it again

I sync my iPhone everyday without a problem and I did the blackrain jailbreak as well. You just cant install a newer version of the iPhone OS.

But do you have to keep your phone on all the time? Like without rebooting it or anything?

And yeah, I can sync it fine as well

No you dont have to keep it on or anything. My battery ran out of juice on Friday and I have powered it off a few different times. Everything works pretty much the same as normal, except you can not upgrade to a newer version of the OS. I am on 3.1.2.

Sorry...

Haven't visited the site lately.

1) What iPhone do you have? 3G? 3GS?

2) If you have a 3GS - how recently did you buy your phone?

Later releases of the 3GS have a new bootrom installed. What this means is if you have a newer version you have a 'tethered jailbreak.'

A tethered jailbreak needs to be 'booted' from your pc with blackra1n. So, if you lose juice or have a crash you need to plug into your computer and reboot. People who have tethered jailbreaks never turn their phone off.

There is talk of a new jailbreak for all devices that don't require a tethered application.

Gotcha, well that has the potential to be quite inconvenient....

Also, do you know how, once the phone is jailbroken, to get movies on the phone straight from the phone without having to download them on the computer then transferring to the phone?

Not sure if I understand.

1) Do you want to know if you can download full movies to the iPhone?

2) Or, do you want to know if you can stream movies to the iPhone?

As for the first one I don't think there is anything out there that lets you do that. It's just a simple matter to convert movies using an application 'Handbrake' then loading them on your phone using iTunes.

As for #2 you can set up your phone (you have to buy hardware) to stream anything from that you would watch on your tv. Look up Slingbox.

I haven't been following the latest iPhone developments for a couple of months so I could be missing something.
