I can't even link this because Plummer drops an expletive on Jerry for his take on the connection between brain injuries and football.

If you're interested, Google it. But please. In your safe space with no children around.

"It's the worst thing in the world for a guy like that to say. That's where we're sitting; grown-[expletive] men are asked to go out there for millions of dollars -- €”which, yeah, it's a lot of money -- bang themselves around and completely [expletive] their lives over for their 40s and 50s."

Jake, no one "asked" you to play the sport. It's not like you were drafted during the Vietnam conflict.

This is a very newspaper like post. If your quote is going to reference another quote and the quote is completely about that reference. You should quote both so the reader has context in the argument. Otherwise, you are might as well be pushing your agenda via the straw man defense.

Yup...boxers and MMA fighters never complain...only dumb football players that were too stupid to put seeing stars and blacking out together with "oh thats not good for my head"

Plummer is 100% correct. The league we love will be extinct in 10 years due to this denial by owners like JJ/Kraft/Mara/Goodell...you admit fault, pay what is owed via retirement benefits for past/current players, and then keep the money rolling in for a non profit organization. The greed will catch up eventually...

The issue at stake much like with cigarettes in the 1990s was whether or not the NFL knew. through the 1980s into the 90s the policy was to shove some smelling salts under the nose and send them back out there. Rub some dirt on it was the cliche. Owners have a responsibility given the amount of power they are granted over their employees.

It's only been recently that the army started considering the effects of concussions regarding soldiers being bombed and shelled. Their policy was that if you didn't have an external injury then you were fit to return to duty. They are finally listening to their doctors.

Ultimately if the NFL knew about the longstanding effects and considering the league founded in the 1940s they should have, then they are responsible if they go the other way and further endanger those that serve them.

When it comes to business Jerruh is nobodies fool, he could sell hot chocolate to an Arab.
when it comes to football? totally clueless, so Plummer shouldn't be shocked that Jerruh is
a total ****** who's allowed money to display his arrogance and stupidity shine through the
grey matter

Well in cases where a boxer is saved by the bell or if you have one that can maintain equilibrium through a concussion then maybe but the corporate structure is completely different.

States have boxing commissions that oversees the sport but the trainers and doctors that administer care to the athletes don't work for them. There is no overarching trust in boxing like the NFL. Maybe a promoter would do something like that; I don't know but the organizational structures make the two sports apples and oranges in this regard.

They could redesign helmets to help with a lot of this ...... but no one wants to change the way the athlete looks.

Things like this would help a lot ....... but I guarantee fans and players would cry.

Why is it a big deal? We have MMA fighters literally knocking each other out yet you don't hear about any lawsuits. Since they paid all the previous players now, all players from this point shouldn't have a right to sue, since they know what they're getting into.

It's also a lot about the perception of the game too. Suburban parents are pulling their kids out of football, reducing the projected future talent pool.

Youth involvement is critical. It's part of what's killing baseball right now. Different reasons yes, but same idea.

Thousands and thousands of men have played football without abnormal brain damage---that is what the deniers refer to. No doubt some but not all boxers and football players have been damaged by their sports but everyone has always known that. Next players with bad knees will be suing.

Its a rough game and every player knows that going in. Head injuries are going to happen. The league and the players are equally responsible to do thier best to protect themselves while understanding there is no 100% guarantee that serious injuries can be prevented all the time.

Those MMA fighters fight maybe 3 times a year on average. A football player takes far more impact over a calendar year.
