Jalen Hurts

Last year, I posted a thread on Gardner Minshew and bringing him in as a backup to compete with Dak. Minshew has, at the very least, has shown he has starter potential in the league. This time, I'm looking at Jalen Hurts. A lot of people will be looking at high round QBs to bring in an replace Dak, but I imagine we will tag him - so I am looking at mid to late round project QBs. I think Hurts has a lot of upside, and if we bring in Riley, he can continue developing Hurts. If Dak takes the next step next year or flops, taking Hurts won't matter and we can still draft a QB high in 2021.

I have Hurts comparing a lot to Cam Newton. While that might not excite most people since Cam Newton never became the best pocket passer, I'm looking at intangibles here and hopes a good HC can develop him into being a better passer.

He's a much better runner than Dak, I'm sure his arm is equal to or better than Daks

Eh, I've seen him being a late rounder in most mocks. I just can't see a player that resembles Cam Newton in terms of intangibles not getting a few teams excited. I also think he has better mental makeup than Cam.

I still have him getting taken in the third or 4th. Just too intriguing of a prospect.

i dont think he will go that high in the draft.
but some mock simulaters have him bottom 1 or in Rd2.
i think he goes 3-5...some where in there.

I doubt he goes in the first. Maybe the second is stretching it. But definitely by the third.
Hurts has the same problem Dak does. He's not a very accurate passer down field. He has improved, but how much to be a serious passer in the NFL?
Too much of a risk for the first round. He doesn't have Lamar Jackson's speed and elusiveness.

But if we could get him in the third or even in the fourth, I'm good with that. But my hope, really, is for Tua to drop and land into our laps.

He has higher upside athletically than Dak. And we aren't taking a QB high this year. This is a mid-round QB with some interesting upside to him. That's it.

Oh, I didn't realize the choices were Burrow or Hurts. I thought for sure there were other quarterbacks in the draft.

What the hell? Way to go from zero to ****** in 60 seconds. Didn't call you out or insult you at all. Everything I said is 100% accurate. Maybe go take your midol and plug it up.

Hurts has remarkably low upside as a passer. He might make a team as a backup, but honestly should probably change positions. That said, if Witten re-retires, he might be the best tight end on the team.

Think he will be a good player in the nfl at another position. Id like this team to draft him and use him the way Niners use Samuel, hell id love for these coaches to use pollard that way too. But go figure they dont
